The first one of these that I bought was at tractor supply in 2006 and just replaced it today 2021....very durable and long lasting if assembled properly
Looks nice. Went together pretty easy, took maybe 30 minutes.
All reviews said it was difficult to assemble and it isn't easy without an extra set of hands. That's the key, having an extra set of eyes and hands. Mounting it on the post doesn't help,but I stood mine up and assembled it from my deck that's 6 feet off the ground. I'd recommend 10 foot sections of one inch rigid pipe. I used one inch EMT (electrical tubing) but rigid pipe is stronger. I haven't seen any Martin's yet but it's August here in Wisconsin and I'll have to wait till spring. It's a very nice house and will be easy to clean.
It's plastic and won't stay together and I have had it for over a week now and no birds yet :(
Hard to put together very complicated
At first I loved them, I bought 2, but as I was putting them together, there was no screws or hardware holding it together, it is just plastic, and made cheaply. A good gust of wind could knock the roof off or maybe fall apart. I even tried gluing, but that did not work either, and one was a Christmas present, and kinda embarrassing to give. I will give 1 star for looks and 1 star for some sort of effort in quality. And needless to say, one set of floors was warped and that was worse.
This one is not as good as the previous one (lasted 9 yrs). did not go together per instructions. Will make final decision when the Martin's return next month (March)
I gave this as a Christmas present. I paid over $100 for it. It was supposed to come with the pole and it did not! Now the return window is closed and the item was not complete. I had no reason to open ahead of time as it was bought as a gift.
Do not buy this bird house! I could not get the pieces to stay together. I returned the product.
You can't keep it together with the clips. It is very cheaply made.
