Good fix for air leaks and bugs under the door. easy install and adjustment
Good quality, sturdy product. Be sure to have a hacksaw to adjust the length of it (or really sharp and solid knife). NOT SUITABLE for the interior doors though
Ensure your door is 1.75" thick, otherwise this isn't the product for you. I had to trim mine down to size. I used a fine point permanent marker for marking the cut line, and used a hacksaw to cut the door seal positioned as it would be when in use. Once the vertical sides where cut completely, I turned the door seal onto its side to cut its horizontal bottom. If you're feeling frisky you could probably use sandpaper to smooth the cut edge. The original weatherstripping on the bottom of my door had completely failed on each side of the door but remained intact in the middle. I used a thick putty knife to help remove what was left. This fits onto the bottom of the door a lot tighter than I was expecting, but with the help of a mallet (as suggested) I was able to secure it onto the door. This is marketed as something that won't damage the door, but I imagine some might experience paint chipping due to its snug fit as it scrapes across the door during install. I had to fight the urge to try to soften it in hot water first, as I realized i wouldn't be able to completely dry it while still pliable, and water stuck inside will most likely lead to mold growing between the door and the seal. After installing, I have no issues with the door opening and closing. I tested for drafts using smoke with the door shut and there were none. So far the biggest downside is its appearance, whereas the door's original seal was hidden underneath. This seems like a worthwhile product for those with limited income or skills, or those with less-than-satisfactory landlords. Hopefully it will last a few years, but for ~$15 lasting through fall and winter would be adequate for me to feel satisfied with the purchase
Had to cut it down to size like it said and it has helped immensely!
Perfect for my needs. Lock cold in in summer heat in during winter. Glides easily. Will be easily installed with new slab security door.
This Duck Brand door seal definitely stopped the problematic hot air from entering our desert home. My previous door seal had a good sized leak and replacing it with this was the easiest option. I got this in the clear color so I can still see the light entering, but there is zero draft. I am not sure I like the transparency coming through, but as for the sealing, I'm all in. I'm sure this will improve our energy costs for sure. This has a rigid exterior and is molded to fit right under most doors by sliding it right on. Along the bottom you have flexible sweeps that gently glide as the door is opened and continuously prevent air flow when the door is closed. I simply cut mine to size and then pushed it on completely, but ended up pushing with my foot because it was a pretty tight fit. You may notice that it appears bent in the image and I think this is normal for the situation. The way my door closes over the threshold does cause this seal to bend slightly but it is also creating a tight seal when closed so this seems to be nothing of concern to me. This was easy to install and instantly solved my problem! My only regret is not choosing a solid color.
Vary stiff hard to put on the door. Took two people to pry on. With it being clear and let's light in keep that in mind.
It fit really tight to the door bottom. The issue was then the door could not close at all. Found something better some where else.
Very difficult to cut to size. Also has no adhesive.
I purchased because it seemed easy to install for this Grandma but it was not. I measured my front door %26 cut off excess with hacksaw before install. Once I installed it took a good hour because it was too tight %26 had to use a mallet to get it on. Now it is hard to open %26 close door so I will need to figure out how to remove it %26 throw away since I can't return since I cut it to fit and find something to replace it with. Stay away unless your door is correct thickness.
