Bout these off line , the are great! The price was on sale ! My system is very nice ,
Installed these speakers in a 5.1 surround system with the 255c-LS center channel. The sound is crisp with great presence. The lows, midrange and highs are very pleasing to the ear both in movies and music.
I purchased these for my new house that a triangle style roof. these point down and directly at listeners. I used the same series mid range and the fx6ai rear on wall surround speakers. It is loud, crisp and sounds awesome. The Velodyne Sub really fills in the bass great!
I just picked up a set of these bad boys to serve as my center channel. They compliment a set of RTiA5's for fronts, pair of OWM 5's for FH, pair of PSW 505 subs, along with a set of Atlantic bi-phase rears and Boston rear backs. The system absolutely ROCKS and shakes my entire living environment with the full sound of what it should be at its premium. I am VERY happy with the sound and awesome power, but ya'll already knew that! I am here to give a little help on those who are looking to paint the grills to match your walls. I followed the instructions for painting, but ended up with many of the little holes in screen filled with paint. I am sure that being more careful and what not might have avoided this issue, but had a back-up plan. I had a 5 gallon air tank with 100 PSI and a nozzle. When done painting, I just used the air to blow "through" the face of the grill and cleared all the holes perfectly. I now have a grill to perfectly match my walls, yet zero holes are filled with paint. Keep an air tank at the ready and paint away.
I bought these on line, without hearing them. It was disconcerning there was not any official reviews, but I purchased anyway after reading reviews on the LS version. Match them to a CSi A4 center. Install was easy, Outside insulated wall. I had to place the left one right next to a stud to balance the look and not spread them out to far. In fact I had to drill pockets in the stud so that the mounting tabs would swing in to them, but it put me right at 35%. Fired up my Onkyo Audyssey and let it calibrated. Both 265RTs and the CSiA4 came in at FULL size. Put on Super Tramp " Crime of the Centrury" and set back to listen to a extremely nice presentation without Sub Woofer support. Firm solid bass very clean mids and highs. The speakers vanished and all you heard was a wall of music. I was VERY impressed.
I recently finished my basement and installed 3 of these for front left/right and center. For rears I used two pair of the 80 f/x rt to complete a 7.1 surround. I complimented them with a velodyne optimum 10 subwoffer. While building the wall studs I made the areas where the speakers were to be installed a sealed box down the wall and used caulk to ensure no resonance would occur. They sound amazing!! i was scheptical having always been an autiophile and always having standing speakers (previously RT 1000 with a cs250 center and the f/x rears ). My father has always had KEF speakers and has spent about $3k a speaker, these sound better! He came over and was seriously impressed! Prior to purchase I looked at tech defs as well as all sorts of other options. My wife had one rule, she did not want to see the speakers. Since there were no reviews I was hesitant but have always loved Polk sound so to a chance. man I could not be happier. I drive them with a Denon AVR990. and all my friends say my basement is better than a theater. well there you have it a review for the vanishing series!
I created a 5.1 system in my 30' x 20' living room and had to find in-wall speakers due to the configuration of the built-in. I use these for front left and right with the 255c-RT in front centre, and a pair of wall mounted RTi-A1's at the back of the room. Using a Denon AVR X2200 and an SVS SB-2000 (sorry Polksters), I'm delighted with my set-up. I love all kinds of action and sci-if movies as well as listening to oodles of classic rock. Even my 9-yr old son loves the sound from cartoons. I can't tell you how much I love Polks products, other than to add that I hung a pair of Atrium 4's in my courtyard/patio (20' x 20') for entertaining and relaxing! At this point I should admit to having had an old pair of Bose 100's hanging in the kitchen - they were left by the previous homeowner. I've always thought Bose speakers were the bomb, but standing outside listening to my new Atrium 4's then stepping inside to hear my Bose units in the kitchen, what can I tell you? I now have a beautiful pair of, neighbor offending, Atrium 6's in the courtyard, with a 'gently used' pair of Atrium 4's blessing my kitchen! The Bose units are currently taking up space on a shelf in the garage! I can't consider myself any kind of audiophile, but would challenge anyone to find better value speakers than the Polk's I have - I even convinced a co-worker to include Polk units in his new outdoor kitchen and he loves them. Great product, great people, thank you Polk!
