Great boot, there is plenty of room in the boot if you decide to go with a wide.
This is my 3rd pair of these. Easily the best boots I have rucked/ran in 20 years of military service
The boots shipped fast and were super comfortable. So far they seem to have a minimal break in period. By my second wear they felt perfect.
I purchased my first pair of MQC's in 2018 for daily wear in my uniform and they turned out to be the most comfortable daily wear boy that I've ever had. They lasted me about 2 1/2 years before the sole started to peel. The only complaint i have with them is that they are ready to scuff. If you are kneeling often, you can expect the toe box to turn from coyote to black. I bought my second pair in March 2021 and have had zero problems with them in the 2 months that I've had them. If your looking for a good daily wear bootthat feels like a tennis shoe, this is it.
Super wide toe box, which is what I needed. The boot just keeps me gliding on this deployment. If you have wide flat feet like me, and need some boots to run around in, look no further.
Being active duty military, I have tried a variety of boots over the years and I'd have to say these are one of the few pairs where I bought the same type of twice in a row. These boots take very little time to fully break in. I like that the MQC 2 boots are light weight, seem to grip well on the rocks, and are pretty durable when compared to other tactical footware in this price range.
This is a good boot. It would t fit in my normal 10W so I had to exchange up to 10.5W due to the insulation making fit a little snug. I would like to see these made in EE (X-Wide) so I wouldn't have to go up a half size due to the insulation. Otherwise, it's a good, warm, waterproof boot.
Currently Active Duty and use the boots at work and they're very comfortable, but putting them on is a bit of a hassle. You have to unlace them practically all the way to get them loose enough to get your feet in; at least it's that way for me. But once they're on, no complaints at all.
I bought these in the same size as other Merrells I own (as well as boots from other brands) - 11.5W. They were way too roomy, so I returned them for 11W. The 11W fit identically to the 11.5W, literally the exact same amount of room behind my heel if I pushed my foot all the way forward. The arch in the boot felt like it was under the ball of my foot, not centered on my arch. Given my experience, I honestly don't know if a 10.5W would have fit. Maybe I'd have had to gone all the way down to a 10W. Or maybe Merrell goofed and put the wrong size on these, since there seemed to be no difference between 11.5W and 11W as well as the sizing just generally being off. At the end of the day, I wasted a lot of time on this and I still don't have any boots.
Great fit and comfort, but as with a number of other reviews which seem to no longer be on the site, I have had concerns about long term durability. I bought these to replace a pair of Altamas for long military rucks. THE GOOD: They are a great looking boot, that fit my wide mid-sole, are extremely light and comfortable (a little pinch on the top of the foot when bending down, but may just be because of break-in period). THE NOT SO GOOD: the second day I wore them one of the grommets came out and was just sitting on the lace (see pic). I tried to place back in, but no luck, just keeps popping back out. Not sure if it was just a defective pair (will check warranty), but based on other reviews, this boot may be better suited for show (drill and ceremony) and not the daily work of a military boot.
