I use this product a lot cutting wood plastic and metals what u use it for it the best product for that DYIers i would use nothing else
Many uses better made than the China made ones. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used these for years when I need to cut precisely. I put on a fine cut-off wheel and use it to cut sheet brass for guitar parts. The abrasive wheels are delicate and break easily, so a light touch is needed. It does a job that no other tool seems to tackle.
Overall the mandrel is pretty good, it works to hold many things, polishing disks, cutting disks, etc. It has a pretty good lifetime and lasts a long time. The drawback I see and this comes from use. Often to hold disks tightly I tightened the screw in with the wrench included with the kit I bought, this little screwdriver stripped itself out, the head of the driver became nearly unusable as a driver and would no longer loosen the mandrel screw. My solution has not been easy. I used another type of micro driver to loosen it and remove the broken disk I had. My final solution, which I had just now, was to take the old wrench tool and with a new disk, grind flat the damaged screwdriver head of the tool, and then put a new beveled edge on that part, essentially making a brand new edge. I would look out for that in the future.
Easy to use screw type mandrel for use with 540-01 cut off wheels and similar attachments. Have used this type for years without issue. Dremel has provided me this product in exchange for an honest review.
This Mandrel is a must have item if you own a Dremel or any other rotary tool. This one bit gives you a wide variety of options from cut-off wheels to sanding discs, and even buffing discs. Whether you want to cut, shape, sand, or polish this mandrel let's you get those hard to reach and small areas. *Dremel has provided me this product in exchange for an honest review.
These mandrels are indispensable if you want to use cutting wheels and some grinding accessories with your Dremel or other rotary tool. There are imitators, but in my experience, the tiny screw breaks very easily. The only down side to these is the tiny slot in the screw. You really need a flat blade 3mm screwdriver to securely tighten the screw without breaking it. I have large hands and it can be a challenge to assemble the mandrel with the cutter, but I guess that is the nature of the beast. The mandrel does its job and doesn't fall apart.
Dremel has provided me this product in exchange for an honest review. You have to have this and I wish they would give you a few more. I tend to snap the little top/secure screw and the whole this is trash, unless you want to drill out the thread with the Dremel small drill but it is better just to go buy more.
I'm so frustrated. I just spent the last 45 minutes trying to first unscrew and then re-screw (with a cutting wheel attached) this mandrel. It was very difficult in the beginning - I had to use a clamp in order the crest enough grip for it to turn. Then when I tried to screw it back it, it got stuck. I tried with the model in the rotary and out of the rotary. It's amazing to me that such a key piece of this expensive tool is such garbage. I now do t have use of this tool or the cutting wheel, because it is also now stuck.
First time I have used this mandrel with a cutting tool. I cannot even get the tiny screw to tighten enough to keep the wheel from slipping around the mandrel... The luster is dimming on my Dremel tool
