The part that connects to the toilet is PAINTED PLASTIC it looks like metal but its not and it broke on the one I bought within the first 6 mos. You get what you pay for! Steer clear of this one!
The hinges on this product corroded and broke within 6 months of buying the seat. Then I had the problem of removing the corroded hinge from the toilet.
This is made of plywood with oak veneer. Not solid wood! For a little bit more $$$ you get a real solid wood seat.
