I have received and used the Kidde AC Hardwired Interconnect Smoke Alarm with Safety Light i12080 and I love its concept. Installation: the Kidde AC Hardwired Interconnect Smoke Alarm with Safety Light i12080 came in with self-drilling screws for the installation process. It was very easy to install. I am not very technical with this sort of work, but I was able to follow the installation instructions and install it by myself in less than 5 minutes. Performance: the Kidde AC Hardwired Interconnect Smoke Alarm with Safety Lightwork very well. It came with a tape that covers the batteries and as soon as you remove the tape, the Kidde AC Hardwired Interconnect Smoke Alarm with Safety Light started flashing light to indicate that the Smoke Alarm is working. It also has the option of the connection to the electric circuit and has the batteries as backup in case of a power outage. The ionization sensing alarms to detect invisible fire particles is a big plus smoke alarm in my opinion. Overall, it is a great product. I love it and I will recommend it to anyone.
When I heard that all smoke alarms are limited to a 10 year lifespan, I knew ours was far past due to be replaced. The old alarm had two wires to disconnect. The new alarm has a base with knockout holes to perfectly match the old electrical box. Connected the two house wires to the new alarm's wiring harness, and connected the plug on that harness to the alarm, attached the alarm to the base, and everything tested for a successful install! We don't have additional alarms to interconnect, but if we did, the only additional effort would be twisting on one more wire nut.
This is an easy to install hardwire smoke alarm with a battery back up. It has a large base to cover any ceiling imperfections from previous smoke alarms. It has a safety light. It uses ionization sensor. It has a 10 year warranty. After that time, a new smoke alarm should be installed.
This detector is a 110vac installation with a 9vdc back up battery... WITH a light! The light was the feature I especially ordered this for as it sits at the top of a stairway and lights up the stairs beautifully. The battery back up is really a necessity if retrofitting a home with only 110vac detectors involved as power outages are so much more common these days... Also there is a locking pin that prevents tampering if used in a rental or something. Installed in your own home though, it can just be frustrating to remember and I suggest not using it.
The Kidde AC Hardwired smoke alarm was the perfect replacement for our old and outdated smoke alarm. It was easy to install and I was surprised by how loud the alarm is. I love the safety light feature. It makes it easy to see the smoke alarm and turn the alarm off when we do fire drills.
I knew immediately when I opened the box this was a well made alarm. It is very durable and comes with easy to install instructions. I haven't had it up very long but I've had no issues with it and seems to be working fine. Hopefully I will never need it but I would definitely purchase this alarm for my home.
I had the detector installed in my basement where the HVAC and water heater are. Fortunately, I cannot say if this smoke detector is reliable in a house fire or not, but the brand is a good one, so I believe it will work if necessary. Installation was quick. My electrician installed it and tested it in under 45 minutes. The alarm is loud and has the same alarm sound as other smoke detectors. That is good because if you hear the alarm you won't have to try to figure out what that new noise is. The light it bright and my electrician recommended that the detector be installed in a way that the light shines on my exit route. I've never had a hard-wired smoke detector before and I thought it wouldn't need batteries, but it does. It still needs a 9 volt battery to operate the light in case the power to the house is out. If the light stops working, the bulb can't be replaced, a new detector has to be bought. Even with those requirements, I like the detector and feel safer with it in my house.
This 120V AC hardwired Kidde smoke alarm with safety light is easy to install/replace an existing hardwired detector. It has a battery back-up. My husband especially liked the included quick-connect AC wire harness-see photo. All the smoke detectors in our home are Kidde.
I have the Kidde i12080 smoke alarm that is designed to protect you and your family from the dangers of smoke and fire which appeals to me. This smoke alarm has a trademarked "hush feature" allows you to silence nuisance alarms, while an indicator LED and test feature let you know that the alarm is working okay. This smoke detector also has a battery-backup feature with a light to help you get to a safe area. By pressing the hush button, you can easily silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners, which has happened at our house. This feature desensitizes the alarm for approximately seven minutes. During this time, the alarm chirps every 30 to 40 seconds. If the smoke is too dense, the hush feature is overridden and the alarm still sounds, and the alarm automatically resets at the end of the seven minutes. I love all the safety features this alarm has. They've really thought of everything.
Intended to install this unit to replace a First Alert model that is 7 years old. The existing First Alert plug is not compatible with the Firex wiring harness which would have been oh so easy pull the battery tab on the Firex unit, plug the wiring harness into a existing Firex base, press the alarm test, and happily have a new smoke alarm installed. In order to use this one, I would have to remove the existing plate from the Kidde to acccess the base of their wiring, wire the new harness, install the new Firex plate, and plug it in. This is beyond my capabilities and I would have to call an electrician or find a compatible First Alert unit. Then, of course, I looked for any compatibility warnings on the box. There is a line on the outside of the box did I did not first notice which says which models it works with and that it is not designed to be interconnected with other manufacturer's products unless otherwise specified. Other than advise to read the box, I can't really tell how this unit works or sounds because I didn't install it.
