I was sent a free Instant lead test by 3M. I just love it. Its so easy to use and results are fast. Plus there is no mistaking if your item has lead in it. Just open it, crush it, Shake then swab. If the item you are testing has lead in it the swab turns red. No mistakes. Now I know if some old dishes I have can be used. I was always afraid to use them. But now I know I can. They are safe. YEAH,,, If you have a older home this would be a must buy product to check your paint. Especially if you have kids. I love it. TY 3M for having a great easy product to ease our minds.
This is one of only 2 Lead Tests that the EPA has approved for use as a Lead Renovator. These swabs are easy to use and fairly accurate. Our business uses them and they have proven to be very useful. Hopefully 3M decides NOT to keep the production of these suspended.
Easy to follow instructions , Passed the test on each painted surface. Had to do a little extra squeezing. To get it to work correctly , and did get the dye on my fingers. So I will have orange fingers for a few days. Feel relieved knowing the paint is lead free :)
Product works as described but I purchased this specific listing because I thought I was receiving “24 pc” test kit as stated.... I guess it's a typo and it was for 2 tests.
I read other reviews saying that when they received the items they were dried up and/or leaking. I figured that was probably not a common issue but mine showed up leaking in the package and we were unable to use them. In order to get a refund, you need to keep the package and return it to the provider by pickup or drop off. (Unfortunately, we were not aware they needed to be returned. So we threw them out.) I would recommend trying to find them in a store if you can.
I bought a two pack and was not able to use either swab. The liquid did not go into the swab completely and did not work on the test circles. I wonder whether these swabs are subject to age. This is one of the few EPA recommended lead tests, but given their price I feel they should be more reliable. I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point. I'm hesitant to buy another set when the first two I tried didn't work.
I just used these on several areas of my house. No liquid came out of three of the swabs, no matter how much I squeezed them. A fourth swab did not react much on the confirmation card. It's better than nothing but frustrating to pay a pretty penny for 8 swabs and get only 4-5 that seem to work.
Received quick delivery via USPS. When opening the lead test kit and using the 1st test vial, I cracked both ends per instructions and shook. No fluid ever came out. It was bone dry. I peeled off the outside paper and could see just crushed glass and crystals, no fluid at all. This must have dried out or was never filled with liquid chemical. The 2nd test vial worked as expected. So I'm one test short and was unable to do the lead testing prior to making an offer on a house. Very frustrating. Before leaving a review of my experience, I contacted seller twice to see how could I receive a new one or a refund? They never responded to either message. I made the effort but seller ignored my issue. Next time, I'll shop local and have better service.
These were completely dried out, no liquid for testing! Both tests! I crushed the insides of “A” and “B” as the directions said to do, shook it, and waited. Nothing. Eventually small glass shards did come out as you can see if you closely look at the photo, but that was all. So now i have to spend more $ and still don't know if I'm exposed to lead. I ordered a new set from Amazon and hope to have better luck. Do better, Walmart!
Bought a two pack, both were broken and useless on arrival.
