I have painted all the ceilings and after putting the smoke alarms back I realized how dingy they looked. I thought it would be best to switch them all out. Having no idea when the last time any of the alarms had been changed, I figured this was my best option. I am changing out all of our alarms with First Alert Hard-wired Smoke Alarm. The six pack is extremely convenient for swapping out every one on our first floor. First Alert has been a brand I have gone with in the past and can trust. Since this was not my first time installing these, I knew it wouldn't take forever. The install was simple and everything needed came right in the box. The alarms all look sleek and clean. Each one was easy to test and I trust will work for a long time to come.

I bought these to replace the smoke alarms to replace the ones that were original since I bought my house 15 years ago. My old ones were giving me issues like going off without stopping for no reason. I love the design and the appearance of the smoke alarms. Very modern and blends right in to everything. I needed the hard wired with battery back up to replace my old ones and I came across these and their perfect. Super fast delivery!
I bought these to replace our 19 year old alarms…yes, I know…shame on us for waiting so long. These were perfect and hooked right up to our hard-wired pre-existing plugs in the ceiling. Simple, straightforward. They did include new wires but we didn't use those.

I learned that it's advisable to change them out every ten years. The First Alert 9120B Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup smoke alarms are designed to help promote household safety, by providing an early warning of fire. This hardwired smoke detector uses an ionization smoke sensor to reliably detect smoke from hot, fast-flaming fires. This is extremely important for newer constructed homes since they are proven to burn more quickly. I do so love the smart technology that is designed to limit unwanted nuisance alarms, especially those that seem to pop up in the middle of the night like angry crickets. It has a single button to press to test and eliminate confusion alarms. It has different modes that activate when you press the button to test, silence, re-test, and to clear the alarm. It's easy to mount with a gastless base. It comes with a new mounting bracket to keep it secure and in perfect alignment. If you have new construction, the little shower cap looking things, are dust covers included to protect the devices. The mounting base is large, making working with the wiring easy to do! They come with batteries already installed and fresh and ready to use when you pull the plastic tab. The pull out battery drawer makes for easy future battery changing, on wall or ceiling. The six pack was perfect for me to change out all of our old smoke detectors. Since we are already wired for that amount, and size, it was merely a matter of switching out the existing ones for the new ones. I like having the battery back-up, and I feel that it's important because many fires start during storms and power outages. Having dual power sources adds extra peace of mind. All homes need fresh smoke detectors, and these are top notch.
Why has my fire alarm gone off for no good reason? Because my smoke detectors are 17 years old! I had no idea they needed to be replaced every 10 years. Pretty easy DIY remove and replace, but you have to balance up on a ladder, use a couple of screwdrivers and the box these fit into has live 120 volt unless you shut it off, READ THE DIRECTIONS

This was a quick, easy, and pain free process. They went right on. They even came with batteries. This was a great addition to my home. My detectors were over due to be replaced. I feel comfortable now knowing I have brand new smoke alarms. I also love that they come in such a large pack! 6 was a perfect amount for my house! I would definitely recommend these to my friends and family.
My home is approx 18 years old. My smoke detectors started chirping a few weeks ago and new batteries didn't solve the problem. Apparently these things are only good for around 10 years. They were kaput. I bought these to replace my old ones. They were very easy to install.

I am sure the product is fine but be careful what you buy. Somewhat disheartened by the hardwired smoke alarms. Guess I should read. BRK first alert hard wired was a nice product and had a place for it but it is a no go. Sighhhhhhh. On to something else. Nicely packaged with thorough directions which is a good attribute. Looks like all wires are included for basic installation.
