Great product if you do not need to hard wire your unit. Easy to install.
After having a whole-home generator put in, I needed to update my smoke/carbon monoxide alarm system. These were easy to install and were compatible with my existing system. I just popped them out of the package and clicked them in. Much cheaper than having the electrician do it!
Like you don't have to put batteries in and took just minutes to install.
Our smoke dectors were 13 years old and a weird yellowish color because of their age. I'm assuming they hadn't been changed since the home was built in 2007. After 3 years of living in our new to us home, and making several safety and cosmetic upgrades to our home. We finally decided to replace all the smoke detectors in our home. Yes- you're supposed to do this every 10 years for safety reasons, but wow! I wasn't prepared for how it would upgrade the look of the home. Sometimes it's the littlest things to make your home sparkle.
Works great, always use Kiddie brand
The alarm went off for no reason and could not be turned off. i had the permanently deactivate the alarm since the hush button wouldn't work. Issue date is April 29, 2021. Only had it installed for 3 months and now it's useless. I hope Kidde will at least replace the unit.
I bought several of these smoke co detectors less than 3 years ago. Today the one in my bedroom went off making an announcement that there was a fire. I checked, nor was there a fire or smoke anywhere in my house. I couldn't get it to turn off so I pit it in a box with some clothes hoping it would stop alarming and saying fire. Three hours layer, when I returned home it was still going off. I read the directions on the back in order to turn it off. Because it's a 10 year lithium battery (not even 3 years old) I had to break the seal in order for it to turn off. Now it's useless. I will stick to the old fashioned smoke detectors with a removable battery. Waste of my money. Plus there's no place to make a complaint or request a partial refund or replacement for this product.
I bought one which lasted a bit under a year. Kidde sent me a free replacement at the start of January 2024. Now, 3 months later, that alarm is signaling that's it malfunctioning. This product should not be on the shelves out there. "Worry-free" is laughable. Now I won't even bother to ask for a 3rd. What waste of my money.
I bought this in December 2022 and it only lasted 8 months even though it says good for 10 years printed on it. I still have the receipt! I read the other reviews about cleaning it but my tenants threw it out because the chirping was bothering them in the middle of the night.
I bought 4 of these along with 10 year smoke detectors. I like doing things 1x and not having to mess with it again. I installed this September before my new tenant moved in. Fast forward 6 months, the tenant texts how they can replace the battery because it keeps chirping. I have bought dozens of smoke detectors that use 9v batteries and I have never had one die in less than 1 year. How a 10 year smoke detector dies in 6 months is beyond. This product is garbage. It was manufactured June 2022, installed September 2022, low battery February 2023.
