t's what I was looking for.
Easy to install. We bought this one because a previous Kidde detector reached its expiration date. Started to beep every 30 seconds. Be sure you check the manufacture date on your current detectors. You should replace them every 7-10 years. Ours lasted 7 before it started beeping to notify us that it Needed replaced. As for this one. I like the door on the front to replace the battery. Super easy to install. Unplugged our old one and this new one used the same plug adapter. Highly recommend this brand.
This is a direct replacement for a contractor installed unit that suddenly started alarming at night, and we couldn't turn it off without unplugging it and removing the backup battery. Same thing happened 3 weeks ago, inspection showed no "FIRE" in progress anywhere. So I had to really shop around to get a direct plug-in configuration unit. We'll see if this eliminates the false alarms at night. My only issue is how this unit was shipped, it was the more expensive of 2 alarms ordered, came in a bubble wrapped envelope, and the box inside shows signs of misuse during shipping. The regular smoke alarm we ordered, which arrived first was shipped in a hard box.
Great price and quick delivery. Fit perfectly where previous detector was mounted. Due to its slightly larger size no painting required. Easy to follow directions and so far works as advertised.
Needed to replace multiple 10 year old units, The power supply prongs matched the older units, making the device switch a breeze!
Needed to replace a previous version of this alarm as they have an "expiration date" where they just start beeping and can't be stopped. The old ones were 7 years until expiration. This new one is 10 years. The new one was an exact fit and I didn't have to change the wires or even the mount on the ceiling. Replaced 3 of them in a matter of less than 10 minutes. Excellent purchase, and Walmart shipped faster and cost less than the big box home store.
I ordered this product to replace an existing one . the product was in stock at a good price. This product is a quality product and has very good reviews
This product had obviously been purchased and returned. The boxes were both open and the contents jammed in. What didn't fit was just thrown in the envelope. How do I know if they are defective??
False alarms started this morning and continued. Tried taking it down to inspect but it wouldn't unlock even though I pressed the release button as hard as I could. Ended up breaking the mount just to get it off the ceiling. Was pretty irritated at this point and lost my cool with it. (See pic of aftermath) As a handyman, I have installed probably a hundred Kidde smoke detectors without any problems. This is the first combo alarm I have installed and I'm not impressed at all. Go to the Kidde website and look up this model you will see multiple bad reviews for this particular model. I should be recalled.
I must have a bad unit, We experienced a false alarm yesterday. Unit was installed nine months ago and had two different new batteries replaced the day before due to beeping. The false alarm set off all the other detectors hardwired in the house. I think if the detectors were made to identify the location or unit problem it would make it better to identify where the problem is. Very disappointed with unit. Will try another brand.
