Good price. Easy to understand instructions and simple to install. What more could you ask for?
I did an extensive research trying to find the best replacement for my old model 1275 and model 1276 that have expired after 10 years. I had a very clear idea of what I wanted: it had to be hardwired and it should have both ionization and photoelectric sensors to detect both types of fires (fast and slow flames). With that in mind, my options were pretty limited and ultimately I chose the PI2010 because of its fairly good reviews and the fact that it would be a direct replacement to my old detectors, so I wouldn't have to install new connectors. The installation went in a breeze and had no problems doing it. By comparison, I spent significantly more time researching than doing the installation. It could've been even faster had I left the old bases in place, but decided to change those too because they were yellowish due to time. All my smoke detectors tested good and work as they are designed. I'm using these smoke detectors in combination with the KN-COPE-IC and the RemoteLync and couldn't be more happier with these products. I feel that my house is safer now because of the added features and the remote monitoring that can do from my phone.
Easy to install
Bought three of these to replace 32-year-old interconnected ionization-type smoke detectors in my home. They have both ionization (flame) and photocell (smoke) sensors. Nice features include a button to quiet the alarm for a few minutes if you're burning the toast. Comes with the 9V backup battery which you'll need to replace every year or so. Easy to install if you know how to safely do basic home electrical work.
Just unplug the old unit and plug in the new, the mounting bases do have to be replaced as they are larger. Again, just loosen two screws to replace. I have faith in the Kidde products as one of the old units did alert us to a small fire before much damage was done. I would not be without them in any home!
