This P3010B was the first P3010 unit I acquired for my collection and its good and all of that, but some minor disturbances. When I tested this with a tiny spray of Smoke Centurion, it alarmed within 5-10 seconds (Just a tad bit faster than ionization alarms), which is very critical in a real smoke event, as well as a voice to warn you (or your younger children) of danger. There's just 2 minor gripes though. For instance, the hush feature works, but you have to wait 10-15 seconds after the initial spray, and when the Photoelectric chamber is exposed to direct sunlight, it goes off, but other than those 2 minor gripes, this would be suitable for a child's bedroom, or older structures that don't support hardwired smoke alarms.
I have very mixed emotions….We never had a problem with our alarm UNTIL, a thermostat in My daughters bedroom malfunctioned and filled her room with smoke. The alarm is right outside of her bedroom so it did go off accordingly. Fortunately, we had already smelled something burning and were turning power to our house off to avoid a fire. If she weren't home and we had been sleeping, the alarm would have saved us from a fire. On that note…..since then, the alarm goes off for no reason. I've tried cleaning it but it didn't help. It scares the crap out of me. It's manufactured date is 3/4/2022 so it's only 2 years old.
I like the idea of these however we have had to replace 3 or 4 already because they will all of a sudden go off for no reason and of course it always seems to happen in the middle of the night. When they start doing that we can no longer trust it so we have had to disable them and replace with a new one. I had the company send us a replacement 2 times and didn't bother the 3rd and 4th time. They would be great if they didn't go off for no reason.
Product worked well initially, but after 3 years it stopped working. The battery is sealed, so it cannot be replaced, so I have to throw it out. Wish it would have worked the 10 years like it said. If you have one of these products I would recommend testing it, to make sure it's still working as well.
Our house was newly modelled, we moved in just one month. The alarm set off in my kids room mid night. And we don't know how to turn it off. Bad quality, don't buy it.
I bought this 2 years ago ,and now it gives false alarm.
I've had this for a year. After a month it started to go off at random times. No matter the season or whether there's smoke or not, it chooses to go off. Tonight it went off three times before being wrapped in a blanket 2 hours ago. It's still going off. The never to be replaced battery is inaccessible so there's no stopping it. Don't buy this product. In fact, I refuse to buy Kidde products from now on.
this is the worst alarm for false alarms ever!!!!!!!!!! I called and they told me I had to clean it after telling me where to instal it correctly which it already was. this thing kept us up numerous nights with false alarms and no way of turning it off yet all our 6 other alarms give us no problems but they are of different make! I am done with an alarm that one can not trust and the new one they are allegedly sending me better not be the same or I will never use kidd again!!!!!!!!!
I bought several of these thinking that they would be the best choice for an old home based on the description of the features and the relatively high price. Each one (this is the third) has gone off in the dead of night and I have had to destroy them to shut them up. The most recent went off at 3:30 this morning, once again, after a weather front went thru leaving dew on the grass and humidity in the air. You can press and hold the button on the front, but it only stops beeping and shouting "FIRE!" for a few seconds before it starts off again. Another night of severely disrupted sleep. I will be calling product support this morning to try to get some kind of explanation.
We are 4 years into a 10 year life and it is going off for no reason at all in the middle of the night. 4 times in past week with no way to shut it off as it is sealed. Never going to buy this product again. Asking for a refund.
