I was so happy to see that once we put this product together I could really see us using it. I like that it is at just the right height for my husband and myself. He's 6'2'' and I was afraid that it would be at an uncomfortably low level for him and it isn't. It is also full of room for any extras. The drawers are great for extra nighties and swaddlers and diapers. And the side cabinet is great for the wipes, powders, and lotions. This product was easy to put together and I helped quite a bit. The directions given were easy to follow and the pictures actually made sense. The only thing is the backing is kind of a pain to screw in because there are no preset holes...but you get over it and do it and it is well worth it when it is all done. I also purchased the crib that matches and they go very well together..the style and grain of the wood is a great match. My little one isn't even here yet and I am very pleased. Oh and another thing..we ordered the product and had it in less than 3 weeks..the crib took maybe another 1 1/2 weeks...but still less time than we thought and in plenty of time for the little guy.
love the dresser. and walmart had it for the lowest price I could find. the only thing I would warn people is that it took between 5 - 6 hours to put it together because the instructions are not as clear as they could be.
My husband and I purchased this piece, along with the 5-drawer chest and Deborah crib all in cognac. The color was perfect and all three pieces matched. It took us a while to put together, and the directions could have been better, but everything went together perfectly. Some have complained about having gaps between drawers, but we didn't have any kind of problems like that. It is very sturdy and wonderfully priced. I will definitely be buying Storkcraft furniture for my next child!
I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this dresser and was keeping my fingers crossed that my experience would be a good one. The dresser arrived quickly and is in great condition. No knicks, chips, or scratches that I have seen. The color is great, more of a cherry than it looks in the stock picture. We had expected this though based on other reviews and pictures on other websites. The instructions are a bit confusing at first since they're mostly pictures, but my husband managed to assemble it just fine. It did take him 4 hours (as I had warned him it might!), but then again, he was doing it by himself as I was little help! No parts were missing, although one of the hardware parts (part N) did not look like the drawing and had us confused for a while. The dresser is sturdy though and seems like it will work just fine. I gave it a 3 for value because I just don't think you should have to pay almost $300 for particle board that you assemble yourself, but I really wasn't willing to pay the extra $200-300 for a nicer quality dresser. Overall we are very pleased and hope that the dresser stands up well over the course of time.
For the price this is a nice functional dresser, with changing table on top. Did not want to spend a lot of money because down the road I'm sure my daughter will want a nice bedroom set. The main downfall is there was all pictures and no reading instructions. Some pieces had letters on them but some of them were wrong, they were located on the wrong piece. It took my husband and son-in-law 1.5 hours to put all the pieces together. Also the color stain on-line appears to be a medium oak but it really looks like a dark cherry. It is much darker than it appears on-line.
After reading all of the reviews for all the colors, we still decided to order this dresser. And we found that the negative opinions of the dresser were not wrong. We had the many of the same problems as the others. There are many pieces and some are not labeled, so well. But it only took me two and a half hours to assemble it all by myself. It wasn't that difficult... just tedious. My main complaints, like I said, were the same as others. Some of the pieces do not fit tight together. And I don't recomend using a hammer to put them together. Even though I put a thick cloth on the piece to protect it from scratches, it still dented the wood. As others said, the main pieces appear to be made of soft wood. The front trim piece is warped and therefore, hits the top drawer when you pull it out. We haven't decided what we want to do about it. It doesn't seem to actually be hurting anything. The other problem is that the sides and back of the drawers aren't very deep. I do like someones suggestion to use the cardwood pieces from packing to extend the sides up. The bottom hinge of the cabinet pulled out of the main side wall already. The more I had to try to adjust it, the worse it got until it just fell out. We fixed it with wood glue, but aren't sure how long it will last. Otherwise, the door is fine and I got it perfectly adjusted. The main anger point is that the back piece that went on the cabinet side didn't line up quite right and the screws broke through in places. I didn't notice it right away. When I did notice, I stopped until I can decide what to do about it. The other two pieces lined up fine. My own personal objection is that it appears to not have a final coat of varnish on it. It is no where near as shiney as the crib and chair. I bought some varnish and a brush for $16 to do it ourselves. I guess it doesn't really bother me that much to do it ourselves. I assume this lack of quality is due to the fact that the crib has to be certified and obviously, the dresser doesn't. We debated for a time wether or not to return it. It matches the crib quite nicely... and there is the fear that the next one could be worse. So I think we are keeping it. I personally wouldn't recommend this dresser unless you have a handy person on hand to look at problems. Unless you insist on having a matching nursery set, I would suggest you find a dresser to match it after you get the crib. Just take one of the extra pieces to the store with you and see if you can find a match. And that is my honest opinion.
We ordered this piece in Oak. When we received it we had 2 of the 3 drawer fronts have zigzag marks on it, which we are assuming are glue marks? AND the chest top has the zigzag all across it as well. Thought it was going to be a more solid piece and better quality. Thinking of just returning it and not messing with getting replacement parts. The crib was awesome and we love that, but skip this changing table!
It took my husband and I 3 hours to assemble, and the directions were clear and we had all the parts. Everything was great until you actually start putting the big pieces together. The drawers are quite shallow and there are small gaps around all the drawers when you look closely. From a distance the dresser looks fine. Also the bottom left seam isn't flush we spent quite a while trying to fix it and gave up. Overall, it's ok.
I bought this for my daughter who is expecting her first child. I bought it to match the crib and glider rocker. This piece is quite a bit bigger than it appears in the picture which was a plus. It was quite a bit of work to put together. I had to sand down the upper and lower cross rails because they were too long when I went to put on the last side. If I didn't do this there would have been a large gap. Also, the back support which is screwed on was not cut correctly and did not line up with the cabinet center piece, so when I screwed it in it went into the edge of the particle board wall causing it to chip and splinter. Also, it doesn't have anyway to attached the changing pad onto it so that it doesn't slip off. It is still a nice piece once it was put together, but I don't expect it too last forever. I think it is a bit over priced since there is quite a bit of particle board. But it matched the crib perfect and my daugther really likes it.
Too much money for particle board. Some of the parts are not very sturdy. Where some of the screws go in there is nothing to fill in the gap and it looks bad.
