After researching all kinds of treadmills, I decided on the Gold's Gym Trainer 890, and am so far very pleased with my decision! I wasn't looking for anything too fancy - I only wanted to use it for walking, yet wanted something sturdy, with decent features that was going to last. With the lifetime warranties on the frame and motor I feel I've found that product. The 16 pre-programmed workouts are challenging and fun, the sound system for an iPod or MP3 player is fantastic, and the machine runs smoothly and quietly. Much quieter than I expected in fact. This treadmill goes up to 10mph with a 10% grade which is plenty for the kind of workouts I do. The fans are a nice addition, and work well, although seem to hit me mid-torso. (I'm about 5'6"). You can adjust from high to low, but I don't think you can adjust the direction of the airflow, which would have been nice. The heart rate monitor is a joke and not at all accurate. It's not a feature that I care about, so not a problem for me. Overall, a very sturdy, complete treadmill! The site to store pick up is efficient and the treadmill arrived quite a bit sooner than I expected. It arrives in a long thin rectangular box and is HEAVY! We were able to fit it into the back of our Toyota Highlander, and it definitely takes 2 or 3 people to get it into the car and house. Because we were installing it upstairs, we opened the box downstairs, removed the parts, and brought them all upstairs individually. The heaviest part of the treadmill is the deck. We kept it in the box which made moving it upstairs a bit easier. As for assembly...it's not rocket science, but because it is so cumbersome, it does take two people. There are several different sizes of screws, so be sure you're using the right ones - we made a mistake and had to do some taking apart and reassembling. Assembly took us about 2-3 hours. I've been enjoying my workouts and couldn't be any happier. This is a great product!
I bought this treadmill back just before the holidays. It was very heavy and it did take a few hours by myself to put it together. Used it twice to look down and see a broken plastic boot that protects the tread adjustment. Something that I didn't put together. It was obviously tightened to the point of breaking, work done by factory. Sent an e-mail out. Sent a second e-mail when the speed and calories burned digital readout no longer works. No answer for weeks. Finally get a return e-mail from "Scott". He was so sorry, first mail must have been lost. Sent another e-mail with details again. He will get right on it. It has been another two weeks and again nothing from the company. I will need to pay in full by April. A total of more than $800 between price, shipping and taxes. I contact the financial people carrying the loan as I couldn't really afford a peice of equipment but due to health felt I needed to invest in loosing weight. They have no answer except work with the company. So a big no to anyone who wants to invest in this particular treadmill. By the time April comes it may not work at all, maybe peices all over the floor by then or out along the road.
