Below reviews are from people with zero idea about what they are buying. On the box it says wired internet preferred as well as it states contents in the box. You can register controller from your PS4 or just enjoy watching TV. Streaming PS4 games within my house works good. There are some hiccups once in the while if someone watches HD movie but it is momentary. Didn't try it yet in my office but Vita works over internet so I am sure PS TV will as well.
Had to wait till I had a better internet connection.Must have missed the part where it said 5-12 mbs to do remote play.It works fine PSP games are a little muddy looking .Very supprised by the size extremely small but does the job .Touch pad on PS4 controller a little hard to control for vit apps.No bumps so far and would recommend .
Let me start off by saying that the product itself is not faulty in any way. HOWEVER, this does not support all of the games on the PS Vita. Examples include LittleBig Planet Vita, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Tearaway, and Modnation Racers. Instead of the system only warning you if a game may not play properly for the intended gaming experience, a game must be patched to be compatible or be compatible in the first place. In my (and many others') opinion, the systems biggest flaw is the whitelist itself. There are many existing PS Vita games (like Street Fighter X Tekken) that don't use the touchscreen at all, but the publishers/developers don't want to send out a patch for the games so that they can be played on PS TV. At launch, the system does not support Netflix, but at the time of this review, they are currently working on getting that taken care of. I purchased this to stream movies on Netflix and Hulu, with the added bonus of being able to play PS Vita games on it. Yet I found that Netflix and Hulu are not supported on Playstation TV. I talked to both Playstation and Netflix customer service, which tell me that they have no clue if it ever will be supported. I returned this product because I don't see how it's a playstation TV if it doesn't support steaming on it.
I think that the Playstation TV was an experiment that Sony wanted to try, but didn't feel it was worth too many resources. The hardware is great for the price and it uses a familiar set of controllers that Playstation 3/4 owners already have which is great. The downside is that it is missing a lot of big game names from the compatibility list. Going down the IGN top rated Vita game list here are some that after six months are still missing from the compatibility list: The Sly Cooper HD collection, The Metal Gear Solid HD collection, Little Big Planet PS Vita, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Ratchet and Clank Collection, among others. These are big hits (in the US at least) and many of them were originally designed wtih controllers like those used with the Playstation TV in mind. It seems like a little thing to get the devs/publishers of these games to modify control schemes to suit this new platform, but Sony apparently doesn't care enough about the Playstation TV's success to put some money into porting this big hit games. I contacted Sony support about this before purchasing and the rep said that Sony was working on porting more games like these and they haven't shown any evidence of that. I am truly disappointed with my purchase, but it is too late to return it now.
I purchased the Playstation TV to play PS Vita games. Well, I have updated the little console online. And it also gave me the option to update the video game carts for Uncharted the Golden Abyss, Assassin's Creed Liberation and Little Big Planet for the Vita. While he console does recognize these games none will play on the Playstation TV as dated above. I bet the other set of games will not work either. Where is that firmware Sony?
I don't yet have a PS4 so that is one feature I cannot currently use. I do own a Vita so access to Vita games is not a problem this solves for me. PlayStation Now looks like it's going to suck due to the rental only model and not allowing access to digital titles you already own. And the big killer is the lack of Netflix and Amazon video streaming services. It's a sleek little black brick that might become more useful in the future, maybe...
Do not buy a PlayStation TV, unless it includes; Dual Shock 4 controller, with at least a 15ft. cord, and last, but not least, a PSTV memory card.
I bought the PS TV mainly for the PS4 remote play. The remote play has way to much lag and input lag for my taste. Most of Sony's big AAA Vita games are not compatible with PS TV. The PS TV doesn't even support Netflix. Very disappointed with this product and I'm a huge Sony fan. If you're buying this for remote play I would recommend to wait and see if Sony can work out the input lag first.
Unreliable! Take 30 minutes to set up correctly....dont want to connect properly (always in error code)...No access to Netflix (But you can download the application???)....Poor 720 lines definition (screen resized to fit your tv)...Take more than 1 hour to download rentals movies on playstation store (so you have to watch your favorite movie next day????)...Bad interface (Home interface)...A piece of sh.......t I called sony customer service and they seems extenued by my comments about this product....I will return it to store!!!
