I am a guitar player myself and I was surprised at the quality of this guitar. It is plastic - but its a heavy duty plastic that probably wouldn't be ruined easily by little ones. It actually tunes up like a real guitar (I tuned it christmas morning) and the manufacturer thought enough in advance to cover up the pegs on the headstock so that kids won't cut their little fingers on the guitar strings. Excellent buy for fifteen dollars!!!
We got these for our 3 and 4 year olds for Christmas who wanted "real" guitars. These were perfect. Good quality and sound. The guitars are also made with pegs so you can attach a strap if you want. (We found inexpensive straps at our local music store.)
This is great quality and a wonderful value! It is the perfect size for my daughter, who is 9, while still maintaining the quality of a full sized guitar. She has one that her grand dad gave her, but it is too big , so this is just what she needed. She absolutely loves it! And I love the creativity that comes out when she plays it. Thanks for the great value, Walmart!!
this was a nice gift enjoyed by my grandaughter on christmas eve.
made of plastic and thought it was bigger, and the strings easily pop if tuners are turned too much, be careful the strings pop and really sting, i was trying to tighten the strings and i slightly turned it and the string popped and really stung me. i would not give to little biddy ones for that reason. my hubby is a guitarist and properly tuned it and my 7 yr old can play chords on it like a regular guitar. but just fun to play with for older children just wanting to play around on a guitar. it is also more like a ukelele type than guitar. my 7 yr old daughter just got it for xmas and its good enough for her.
This is NOT a guitar. It is a hunk of cheap, thin plastic & the strings may as well not be there since they are useless. Like the previous poster said, tightening the strings accomplishes nothing. I'd have better sound if I tied dental floss on it. Wasn't expecting high quality sound, but I was expecting some sort of sound. Bottom line, this is a waste of money. My daughter opened it for Christmas, was so excited to use it, but after striking the strings one time has not touched it since. Thankfully, I saved the box & it will be getting returned.
I'm not sure why I would expect something more than a plastic guitar when I paid $15 for it, but I guess I was expecting something a little higher quality than what we got. I find it nearly impossible to tune this guitar. By the time I've got the 1st string tuned, the 6th has already slipped way flat. The only thing that keeps me from giving this a 1 star review is that my daughter is only 6 and could care less what it sounds like, she just likes to strum along like dad. If you're looking for a noisy toy, this is fine. If you want something that your daughter will learn to play, spend a little money and get something better quality.
Ok, so my daughter and I saw tangled and loved it, she has been begging for a guitar for awhile now and so I had to get this. It was only $15 on walmart.com and I was looking elsewhere online and was seeing upwards of $50. I am mad I spent $15 and would have been absolutely FURIOUS had I spent more. It is nothing but a cheap piece of plastic. I opened the guitar and tuned it only a few days before she opened it. While I was tuning it I heard a loud crack but couldn't find anything on the guitar broken. By the time we opened the guitar a few days later it was out of tune, tuned it again and within minutes it lost its tune again. I was so incredibly disappointed I begged her to let me take it back and bought her one elsewhere. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL
To a 5 year old, this is a dream come true, until with very little play 2 of the strings broke :( She is so disappointed.
We ordered two of these guitars for Christmas and when my daughters opened them, they immediately wanted to play them. We tried to tighten the strings and 3 strings on each guitar could not tighten. My youngest daughter said this was "the best Christmas Ever" and she could not even start playing with it. Very dissapointed.
