The MPD218 is a MIDI-over-USB pad controller perfect for producers, programmers, musicians and DJs alike. First, we stepped up our game by adding new, ultra sensitive Thick Fat MPC pads, creating an amazingly responsive user experience. The MPD218 also has an expanded control set of six knobs in three banks versus one control on the previous MPD18 model. This will enable you to maximize your sound and give you increased control over effects. MIDI information is sent over its plug-and-play USB interface for use on Mac or PC, eliminating the need to install any drivers. The USB connection powers the MPD218 so the included USB cable is all you need. Our MPD2 Series marks an important evolution of the pad controller. Many years of research and customer feedback has led directly to some of the most capable pad controllers ever developed. I love it so far I'm downloading rn and I'm going to have to say if you buy something it should come with a receipt That's a BIG Fault.... if you put it in there, it's not there unpon opening.. but in the box.
Over-rated. Just get 2 turntables and mic and thank me later. Seriously they add some echo reverb at the end of the beats making it a challenge to loop the beat outside of 'their' software. That was not an accident. The software and hardware can hardly keep up with any real drumming over 120 bpm in some instances. Have to sit there painfully slow with it's own repeat on a new track like as if I wasn't doing it live a moment before. That is not real pad drumming. The built-in kits like hip-hop are plastic and the pads never match what is assigned or 2 pads go off at once. WHAT GOOD IS ALL THIS POWER WITHOUT CONTROL? That being said if you start over 'blank', it does not have this OFFSET problem on the pre-made kits of MPC beats. I really hardly have the patience now to see what it will screw up next. I wasn't even drumming that hard and the pads make a high pitched ting from under the pads like a spring breaking. Then the software hardware pack with Apple is over the top on force upgrading hardware that does video editing all over an 8-track beat? Seriously? I have a very expensive iMac which evidently is not good enough. Have to upgrade the hardware to fix this MPC software and hardware problem. Started break dancing in '82 then DJing like most of us. I GOT BURNED AND BURNED BAD HERE. I already have the nicest iPhone 13 Pro and cannot even see the screen or make a beat with calls coming in. That's what phones are for. Phone calls. The software is misleading, the iPad and iPhone and iMac pretend to be able to all use the same software to a point but that is not true. It will tell you in the app store it will work on the iPad and it does not. It requires a package that costs 5x as much. I asked a question day 1 and still have not received an answer via e-mail. MPD218 does work on Linux and Hydrogen. Kudos to people like the Great White Shark for making sure Hydrogen fills the void. Once again unless you have your system just so the pads cannot keep up with an aggressive human beat maker. Somebody plucking 1 track per instrument sure it handles it, but not anything real can be heard. The beat from stock kit really has an out-dated 505 1985 sound. I have seen free 505 virtual beat machines do more like reversing drums. I do like how the device is good sized to take places along with a lock cable connector on the back. They have writing all along the device but it is faint and unreadable in the day time let alone in a dark studio at night. Use different ink. Wal-mart if you want this thing back, no tears.
