I gave up my Blackberry for this, I just dont need the data package charges, and constant email. My stress is down. I can slip it in the pocket with ease and you can hardly notice it. A great phone if you don't need a smart phone and all those data charges!
I'm hard of hearing, yet I had no problem hearing the calls, ringtones or anything else with it. It replaces an LG flip that stopped working. I don't know why the bad reviews on the volume level, either they fixed it since, or you people need to learn how to set the volume right or something.
Great phone. I am not one for texting or internet and am "old-fashioned". A phone is to talk on -- nothing more. Works great for me. I can hear the other party perfectly with or without the speaker phone.
Since I'm "old-fashioned" and think that a phone is used to talk on and not for these extras such as texting, internet, etc, I find the phone great for my needs. The ringer is loud even on the lowest setting so I have no problem missing the phone ringing. The buttons and LCD screen are easy to read and see.
I hate this phone. If you are in a noisy area whomever you're talking to can only hear the background noise. I also feel that I can't hear the person I'm talking to. I have to ask them all the time to repeat what they just said. I would not recommend this phone. I am going back today to get a different phone.
I use the speaker phone frequently and compared to my previous LG, this was a step backward. The volume at the highest level was too low, and it was hard to hear the other person even not being hearing deficient. Difficult to hear in public areas with background noise. I had to constantly answer the 'yes'/'no' question if I wanted to go to speaker phone and set it each time of use. A one touch would be so much easier. I'm going to return it and get a different phone.
When I first got this phone I liked it because the functions were easy to use and very similar to my previous Samsung phone that I had used for 8 years!! Yes 8! It was the energizer bunny, great phone. But having had this phone for a week...I notice, most of the time I can not hear people, unless I am holding the phone exactly right and in a quiet area. Sorry...this won't cut it...it's going back.
The volume through the speaker seems to be too quiet with no way to adjust it. My 13 year old daughter even complained of this and neither of us are hard of hearing. Tired of having to ask people to speak up, so I am returning today to pick out something else. Also, not every menu has a back button, which can be a little annoying.
This was to replace my Motorola (old flip - LOVE IT) However, after going through 2 Chronos, with the same problem I had them switch it back to my Motorola. The Chronos decided to "reboot" itself at random times. Sometimes when I would be making a call. Chronos would also not RING (or show I missed any calls/texts), but would leave MESSAGES/ALERTS on my Motorola! (Incidentally, I needed to use the Chronos to access these messages since the Motorola was NOT ACTIVATED! The ONLY reason I was looking to change the Motorola, was because on & off since Dec. 2010 it has been not calling my house number, and US Techs/CSR's have told me this MIGHT be the only solution. I do not wish to up my plan, but would like a working phone. THE CHRONOS IS NOT THE ANSWER!
the phone worked great UNTIL it started missing calls and texts then it would freeze and the screen would turn blue, DO NOT GET THIS PHONE, i am surprised a Samsung phone would do this.
