The biggest problem I have with the web reviews of this phone most likely had to do with the person's previous experience with phones. This model is being called the mid-range phone for 2013. It is the first phone on the Virgin Mobile network to use Android 4.1. For me, that was a deciding factor in buying a new phone. I refused to upgrade my phone until my carrier got this version. What you will need to know, if you're a hold-out, is that the $25/mo plan that you've been grandfathered into at VM won't work with this phone. You'll have to start using the $35/mo plan like all the new customers, but it's okay because I'm sure you weren't getting much benefit from your old service anyway. My previous phone was an Intercept. It was pretty cool when I got it, but the battery was never really good. The Intercept had a 12 hour battery life with minimal use (I mean like sending a couple of texts and occassionally checking the clock, that's it). I kept it so long because I liked the physical keyboard and didn't think I'd like the on-screen keyboard, but it really hasn't been that hard to adjust. This phone is lighter and slimmer than the Intercept, has much better battery life, a beautiful screen, makes better use of wifi, has quick response time. I'm not within the LTE area...actually, the area where I live doesn't get much service from any carrier, so I stick with Virgin Mobile because they cost considerably less. This phone still gets a great signal in my area and doesn't get stuck for 5 minutes trying to send a simple text. The few negative reviews this phone has gotten no doubt comes from folks who have switched from high-end or change phones regularly, but if you're like me and you've used the same phone for years, you're going to be amazed at how much better this one is. That's not to say like "If you've lived under a rock, you're going to be amazed at how bright it is at night." It keeps up with the current high-end phones just fine. Just don't load it down with apps you aren't going to use (they're right that you can't store apps on your SD with this one). The battery cover is very thin, which accounts for much of the "feels like cheap plastic" reviews, but it's strong enough to protect the battery, very secure, and keeps the phone from being bulky and heavy. I love the phone. I'm very happy with it.

Awesome Phone....BUT Samsung phones come with a bunch of useless bloat ware apps that drain battery to 8 hours standby..from syncing apps your not even using? anyway once you configure apps you use and uncheck the others, you can't uninstall apps it comes with... stay away from opening mobileID and Samsung apps they just clog up phone with duplicate function apps here is a how to link http://devicehelp.virginmobileusa.com/device/Galaxy_Victory/Virgin_Mobile/en and http://support.sprint.com/support/tutorial/Conserve_battery_life_Samsung_Galaxy_Victorytrade_4G_LTE/2062-498 After adjustments, its about 4 days on standby...they say 9days..maybe thats for 3g mode I get 4G in my area...my old 3g phone was 2.0mbps and new 4G phone gets up to 12.50mbps so a 4G phone is the way to go, and this phone does not disappoint, fast and smooth operation I highly recommend this phone :)

I wanted the latest galaxy phone but I tend to drop my phone a lot so paying 500 for a phone inly to worry about dropping it I thought I would ease into it with this phone. This phone had a lot of the similar features that I wanted in comparison to the galaxy s3. The gs2 was the same price as this phone but this phone had sbeam and I know more people with the gs3 that uses sbeam. The features are great I love the two cameras and the storage for all the apps is the san asy previous phone but I don't run out of storage. I compared my phone to the s3 my phone is slightly thicker but just as light. I love happy I made the purchase great deal great phone.

For anyone starting in the Android world, this is a great phone to begin with. While some features are rather annoying - using the Connections Optimizer will turn on WiFi when not desired and the SD card is not treated as the SD card in previous versions of Android - some will enhance your experience with the phone. For example, the NFC capabilities have enabled me to use the phone as a credit card and I am able to leave the real credit card at home.

It's a good phone but it's not without flaws

This is a good phone, but there are a few issues that hold it back from being a great phone. The first and most annoying for me is that the keyboard is reset to the samsung keyboard after a restart. Second being a random restart or two that I've experienced. (Could have been caused by an app) Also, the screen isn't the best, but for the price It's not awful. Overall this phone is great if you're coming up from something a lot cheaper.

If you like apps this isn't your phone

First of all I purchased this phone as an upgrade from a Samsung express, which didn't have a lot of internal memory either, but you could put your apps on the sd card. This phone you don't have that feature and ONLY 2gb for apps that includes installed and running. You can't move apps to the sd card unless they are larger than 1GB. I have yet to see an application that is 1GB. Live chat was absolutely no help whatsoever. The 2nd issue, the phone has no accessories available from Samsung, so if you want a case you will have to go through someone else and VERY limited selection. If I knew these issues prior to purchase I would NOT have bought another Samsung, and this will be my last. My wife got the 16GIG i phone for 100 dollars more. Can you buy anything with 2 gigs of memory any more? I really dislike this purchase!!!
