These peas are an excellent southern dish, but they MUST BE prepped before cooking. The instructions on the package simply say to pour in pan and cook 30-35 minutes, however, I found that these peas need to be run through a colander and washed thoroughly. There are quite a lot of "bad" peas that need to be removed, as well as some stems and leaf bits. As an experienced "southern" cook, I boil these peas on high for at least an hour and I put in a piece of bacon and some salt for flavor. They are really great peas, but you need to prepare them properly for the best result.
did not recieve these they substituted for frozen purple hull peas.
The bag had a small hole in it and peas went everywhere when I picked it up. No one's fault but I would need a fresh bag of peas or a refund. Thanks
