I love this Garmin product! I bought a Garmin two years ago that was hard to use. This is easy. I'm a direction reader, but this one is so easy that I never even read the directions! I just got back from NYC on a shopping trip and this Garmin made my trip home really easy.
Before I bought the Garmin C340, I used maps all my life. They did the job for me for years. Now that I purchased the Garmin C340 for my profession, It's something I do not want to do without. It cuts time like you have no idea. Now I don't have to spend time trying to map out my route. I set it to truck, put in the address and hit go. What a pleasure. No matter what you drive, this is the tool to have. It's like having a co-pilot sitting next to you.
I would first all recommend getting this discontinued product before it's totally out of stock every where. The C550 which replaces the C340 is the exact same product except it only adds whistles like MP3 & bluetooth. This is the cheapest product that Garmin has with Text to speech, which is an awesome feature. The C340 also works right out of the box without any downloads. Find it at the right price and this killer deal.
I bought this GPS and it is great! Very simple to use and is my companion when I go to places I'm not familier with. I don't really think you can get lost with it. Bright screen, easy to punch in addresses etc. It gives you several voice prompts before you exit off the interstate etc. Now I can travel to downtown Chicago and feel more secure where I'm going. Good price, and alot of info on it. It's fun to use! This can be used right out of the box. Amazing what technology has come too.
Thanks to the many reviews on walmart.com, I was confident that the StreetPilot c340 would live up to my expectations. I opened the package in the Walmart parking lot, and was able to install the unit and establish a route back to my office within maybe two minutes. The unit is for my wife, and she isn't into electronic gadgetry. But she's thrilled with our Garmin. No more printing directions off of Mapquest! Highly recommended!
I rented a Street Pilot c330 when traveling a fell in love with it's ease of use. It makes driving in unknown areas a real pleasure. Bought the c340 because it includes the street names when giving directions and I find that very helpful. I've named the devise "Gigi" and she's a constant companion!!
Works pretty well. Can take a little longer than expected to find its bearings but has been very accurate. Had to reboot a coupl of times because it got stuck in a location.
I purchased this GPS knowing that i didn't want to spend alot of money but wanted a good unit with Text To Speech. I opened it up when i got in the car and set up took around 3 minutes. I was up and running in no time at all. The windshield mount is very sturdy and the display is nice and bright. I have customized my GPS with my own splash screen as well as some points of interest files i downloaded from the internet. I do however wish the voices were a little less robotic sounding. I did find a pretty decent voice and i'm sticking with that one. All and all, i am very happy with my purchase.
I travel all over the country as a consultant. I appreciate the incredible navigational capabilities of Garmin....The only issue I have is that it cannot be charged in a car with no docking station. I rent dozens of cars a year and can only use Garmin for a few hours. I have to connect it to my laptop when the battery gets low while in the car. It would be great if there was a connector to the car for charging purposes.......
I used the Street Pilot for about a week and found that the directions were off a bit and it took quite a while to get a satellite connection. Also, it is rather bulky. I returned the Street Pilot 340 and purchased the Nuvi 350. I must say that I absolutely love the Nuvi. I traveled up to the Finger Lakes in New York only knowing that I needed to head North. The Nuvi got me there without a missed turn. I would highly recommend the Nuvi 350.
