We have two older cats who don't get excited about much anymore but they are both nuts over this toy. They will hit it and then run and hide under the couch to "stalk" it! Too cute. Love the chirping noises. I can't stand most noisy pet toys but these chirps are soft and realistic. It's held up well over two months (I figured the feathers would be gone by now but they're in good shape.) The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is because I wish the bottom was weighted a little more. It's still not bad though. They have to hit it pretty hard and near the base to make it fall over.
I bought this toy for one of my cats and he absolutely loved it! Unfortunately, so did my puppy. Strong toy, but not even the walls of my house can stand up to the jaws of my puppy! So now I will be getting this toy again and monitoring my dog when she is near it. I was still able to keep it alive for a few weeks.
Both of my cats can't get enough of this toy. I bought 2. Although the bird falls off easily on one of the birdy bongos. Every morning I have to find it. Plus even though the bird chirps, it isn't an annoying sound unlike most noise making cat toys.
I actually bought this toy for my lovebird. My wife bought one four years ago and the battery finally wore out. When we first bought this toy, it took the bird about a year to figure out how to make it sing. After that it was part of his normal play to whack the the bird's head and make him sing. When the bird stopped singing, my bird stopped playing with his "buddy" of 4 years. After searching online, I finally found the manufacturer and was happy to see that it could be delivered "site to store" at my local Wal-Mart. Can't answer for cats, but Peaches is very happy that his "bluebird buddy" sings again. He is back to playing with it several times a day again!!!
My 4yr old cat loves this toy, and everyone that's seen it sez it is really cute. The bottom does come off of it pretty easily.
Wow. I saw in browsing that this toy only had 4 stars, so I had to rate. I even just set up my nickname, because I have been on here for years, but this is the first time I have ever felt the need to comment. This is a serious review. My cat jumped on and drug the toy out of the room after we opened it for her on Christmas morning last year. She wanted to be alone with her prey. It was hilarious! The chirping bird can be removed, and after she has attacked it enough and swatted the bird down, she triumphantly swatts it around the house. A year later, and today she attacked the bird for hours, driving us crazy with the chirping sound. lol Maybe it's because she's only 3 but she has never loved a toy more than this one. She plays with it every single day. We play with her by taking it out of her mouth (and claws) and attaching it back on it's perch, while she hides watching and waiting for the perfect time to attack! I could not imagine now not owning this toy- I hope the same for you and your feline king or queen! (the chirping is not that bad, it's quiet, especially when it's under the furniture being eaten!) lol
It's a good toy, and it keeps my cat's attention. We tend to be out of the house a lot, so he's at home by himself. He needs a toy that plays back with him, and this one does the trick. The only problems I have with it are: 1) There's no off switch for the bird call sounds, and my cat hates those. I do believe you can unscrew the bottom and take the batteries out, however. 2) It doesn't stay up. When my cat bats at the bird, he tends to knock the whole thing over. He's too strong (he's about 14 years old). I think a kitten would like it more since it wouldn't topple over. HOWEVER, my cat learned how to stand it back up, and it's very comical and very cute. So I still like it.
This product is colorful, easy to assemble, and tons of fun. My boys just love to make it sing for as long as possible.
Excellent toy, not sure how cats react to it. Mine didn't but I can not get her to play with much. Sturdy and have not seen it tip over. The sound is gentle and not annoying.
The minute I brought it out to my manx kitten Aoife she LOVED it! She would play with it for hours and drag it everywhere! But the next day I noticed there was a hole in it and the "peeper" fell out! I found it on the floor and stuffed it back up in there and will sew it back up soon. I'm disappointed that it only lasted a day before she ripped it open. None of her other cheeping, peeping, or jingling toys have that problem and she's been playing with them for over a month now!
