Previously used a "snack-o-sphere" which is like this but completely round. One of our cats learned to manipulate it too well and would get all the treats out right away. This one is egg shaped and weighted on the bottom so it does provide more of a challenge. However, I think the weight could be a little lighter because she had a hard time with it at first. It takes A LOT of force to flip it over. You have to fill it pretty well with treats at first to make it easier so they learn how to do it. Now, it keeps her attention but she has learned to manuever it enough that it doesn't frustrate her. I'm pleased with the purchase. It keeps her attention and keeps her out of trouble for a while. We have another cat that won't go to the trouble. She was not motivated with this or the sphere (that was pretty easy). So I think this is better suited for more curious, clever cat.
