Didn't realize there were refills available (duh!). Certainly cheaper than a whole new scratch pad, and the cats love it!
The 10-year-old cat I rescued used to claw my furniture to shreds, but (after I bought this scratchpod and placed it in a prominent spot near my desk) she comes and uses it many times every day. I love it!
I really like the refillable scratcher over the disposables. I think that it is head and shoulders above them for classiness if nothing else. The refills are a straight drop in replacement and no issues of any kind. My feline employers find it very user friendly and enjoyable as well.
If you have cats, they will love this!!! You really don't even need the outside container to hold the replacement pads. My cats go crazy over this scratch pad... only downfall is I wish they lasted longer, but you can turn them over. Overall, it's a wonderful product for your kitties! I will be ordering more.
I have been using the same pod/ container and replaceing the scratch pod for several years. I go through about 4 a year with 6 cats using them.
Both my cats love this. It helps to protect my furniture. I like the pod with the refills better than just the cardboard box by the same company; could not find the original one at stores; only on line. Too bad.The refillable pod is much sturdier..
Because of a recent move, my outdoor cat has become an indoor cat. I was skeptical that he would use this scratching pad, but with the addition of the catnip he now loves it! At first, he only slept on it, enjoying the catnip. It took a few days, but, finally he got the idea and began scratching it. I have it lying on the floor, but it is stabilized by the plastic bail which is around the frame of a heavy piece of furniture. The pad is reversible and easy to change in the ScratchPod frame. I also like the idea that it is made in North America from recycled materials.
I thought I only ordered a total of 4. But I received 8. So I didn't know if I had caused this or that the ordering page was confusing? But now with the 8 I may never need another!
I would recommend giving this a try. I was skeptical because it was the cheapest cat scratch toy I saw in the store. When I got it home I took it out of the box and my cat knew exactly what to do. She started clawing at it right away even without the cat nip. She still uses it..If I catch her going to scratch the couch or something I just push this in front of her and she will start to scratch at it. I think it depends on your individual cat-if it doesn't work for you bring it back, but its worth a shot.
The refill fits perfectly, but sheds everywhere. I am sweeping up the shedding corrugated board seemingly after every scratch! YIKES!
