GEVALIA Dark Breakfast Blend is very similar to a fresh Starbucks Breakfast Blend coffee. This is our favorite coffee pod. My wife likes it with warm milk... I add a shot of GEVALIA Decaffeinated Espresso to my morning brew. This pod keeps us from buying a "K" system.
Actually, I can't decide which is better...the Dark Breakfast Blend or the Dark House Blend. Both give you an excellent BOLD cup of coffee which is why I buy both of them. I do know that you can't beat Gevalia coffee. I use their ground coffee in my 12 cup pot every morning. We love our Tassimo coffee maker because the boldness and richness that these discs give you are clearly not attainable with the Keurig cups. The machine itself is a much better technology as well.
Hi everyone. This coffee has to be probably my second favorite blend of coffee from the Gavalia blends and I am so happy with all of their blends, but this one is just the best. It is dark, yet doesn't give you any burnt aftertaste and never, ever, ever tastes old, no matter how many times you might need to reheat it. Even though some may call it a stronger blend, I think it has both light qualities and a dark blend attitude. Although this coffee certainly is not snobbish, you can stick your pinky finger up at anyone while drinking it because when you are drinking this flavor, your confidence level will show the room that you know your coffee and it is surprisingly not as expensive as you would expect it to be for one of the larger sized cups. HAVE FUN, STAY COOL, TAKE CHARGE!
I tried this coffee while seeking an alternative to my favorite, King Joe. I wasn't disappointed. However, what I found rather odd is that the T-discs don't completely empty its liquid into the cup at the end of the brewing cycle. Also, I found it a bit odd that the T-discs are large but does not fill a large mug as it appears that it will.
Gevalia's attempt to capture Sbux Breakfast Blend is a lot closer to the real thing than they did with the 'Dark Italian / Verona'. I am enjoying my second cup this morning very much; it is flavorful and smooth but definitely not strong. It doesn't have the awful metallic aftertaste that some other Gevalia blends have. I would situate this blend as a medium roast, much contrary to their packaging and marketing of 'extra bold' which is far from it. This coffee will make it to my must have inventory.
Being a Dark Breakfast Blend you may think it would have a very strong flavor but to me it is somewhat medium flavored which is just what I need on those weekend mornings. I have pretty much enjoyed all the Gevalia coffees and this is no exception. If you like a nice tasting coffee, this is the one.
I do not like this coffee. I like a good bold flavor, but this is a bit too much. It is bitter with a bad after taste. I look forward to drinking a cup of coffee to the very last drop. I always end up throwing this out about half way through. Even with milk and sugar this is awful. I have so much of it and don't know what to do with it. I will stick to my ultimate favorite, Mastro Lorenzo Crema, it's the bomb!
My mother is not a strong coffee drinker. She likes moderate to light coffee in the morning because she drinks 2-3 cups in the morning. However, even she thinks that this is too watery for her. Breakfast blends, morning blends, light roasts, are all too watery. If you like beans in water, you'll do fine. If you like more flavor, go bolder.
I have been a Tassimo user for years, and have been very disappointed in the quality of the discs for the Starbucks replacements. I am tired of having grounds in my coffee and tired of cleaning up the machine after I use these discs, even after getting the replacement bracket and disc holder. The regular size discs work great, these don't.
Like all of Gevalia's coffees this one is nothing special. It's slightly better than instant coffee and not even close to the Starbucks Breakfast blend that Tassimo (Kraft Foods) used to offer. It is bold and has more body than most of the other offerings but it doesn't taste like freshly ground coffee. It tastes flat, old and faded. What is the Gevalia hype? I don't get it...
