I sought out this product after, suffering a neck sprain, a co-worker suggested I apply cold and hot compresses to the affected area. First, using my small heat pad and then my ice bag and finding relief, I looked for a better way. This product is by far the ideal way for simplicity and comfort. Putting it in the freezer for cold and microwave for heat couldn't be easier and the Velcro fastener and terry cloth sleeve is a comfortable as one could make it. Couldn't be more satisfied.
I gave this an overall 4 star rating because it's heavy when you put the gel pack in it. The last thing I need is something heavy on my shoulders, when my neck is hurting. I have tried it hot and cold. I thought the cold would be better, but it turns out the hot is better because I'm using it for arthritis in my neck. If my neck was injured then the cold would be better. I wear it to bed at night w/o the gel pack, just to keep my neck straight. It works great! Love it! Definately worth $20!
For the price you get a nice neck brace that has helped me feel less pain in just a few days.
This works great for a hot or cold pack to place around the neck, but it offers very little support. It's very soft and comfortable. If you are looking for firm support to hold your neck in place, this is not for you. It's basically a hot/cold pad with a good velcro closure that will adjust to your specific neck size. I thought it was a bit too expensive for what it's worth.
It does NOT hold the heat long 12 minutes max even when i get it very hot /
