I have already told my friend about this...I have a heel spur and when I wake up in the morning I can't walk...I have used this splint 3 nights in a row now along with the ice pack and I am able to stand and put pressure on my foot...keeps my foot straight, not too tight (adjustable straps) ...works very well....I wear a woman's size 8 1/2 wide and this size works perfect....
My husband got this to help with his plantar fasciatis foot pain. It really helped to reduce that early morning hobble.
Better than the one from my doctor and was almost $200 cheaper.
I purchased this for my husband who suffers from Plantar Fasciitis. He has been getting injections and using another splint. He wanted one that was more in this style and was amazed at how much more comfortable it is. The ice pack sleeve is easily removed for re-freezing and you can order extra's from Brownmed (manufacturer), which only took a couple of days to receive. The pricing value for this splint is comparable to one received from a Podiatrist office or better without the middle man price attached.
I was ready to order it from another fender when Walmart came up and I was able to save over $25.00. Thanks
Have suffered from plantar fasciitis in both feet for 7 months and noticed an improvement in my condition after using the night splint just one night. I stand on my feet at a minimum of 4 hours a day at work, during the school year an additional 6-7 hours. The pain has definitely eased and I'm hoping that the condition will clear up in another 2 weeks.
After standing on concrete floors at work all day, 10-15 mins. of elevation with the brace and ice pack gives much-needed relief. Sleeping with it nightly (no ice pack) has given better results than my previous overnight brace, which was designed to rest on top of the foot.
Being nagged by PF for five months, to the point I couldn't take a single step first thing in the morning without a LOT of pain, I decided to give this splint a try. Very easy to slip on, although one of the sticky back Velcro tabs had fallen off during shipping. The side straps allow you to set the upward angle of the foot, with the goal being to have it less than 90 degrees (foot to leg) to stretch the inflamed tendons. Tip: adjust before you put the splint on. You must have a tight fit against the leg with your heel placed well back into the cuff. If not, the angle will return to 90 as the fit is too loose. You can REALLY decrease the angle to get a lot of stretch of the tendon, however when your foot begins to scream and burn during your sleep, you'll readjust. TIP: you need some bend, not a lot. The device is easy to sleep in. DO NOT WALK IN IT. A) it has a fabric bottom and B) you'll fall over and do a face plant. Instructions show only how to attach the straps, 3 Velcro and one with a clip. Start from the toes and work up. Nice and snug, but make sure your heel is well seated...this is critical for a good fit. Loose....no relief. Designed to wear when you sleep, however if lounging, put it on and prop up your leg for best relief. The ice pack is a nice feature and helps. The Bottom Line..... Definitely worth it. PF can take many months to clear up. After using the splint for two weeks I could awaken and walk, no longer having to hobble requiring stretching before I could take a step. Price is right. Does as good as more expensive devices. Doesn't choke off blood flow.
I purchased these based on the reviews. I have Plantar Fasciitis in both feet, so I had to purchased two. Let me say that I have had PF since 8/2010, started in my left foot, quickly I had it in both feet. I've been to numerous doctors including podiatrists and chiropractors. I've had everything done and nothing worked. I did get a set of these from my first podiatrist that are AWFUL, I have to say these are better as far as comfort and I LOVE the ice pack part. But they aren't working. The first two nights I didn't have that hobbling pain when I first stepped out of bed but as the day progressed, the pain was still there. Last night, I didn't have any relief at all, they still hurt when I first got out of bed this AM. I'm going to give it a few more and probably will end up having to return them. It's just way too costly for something that isn't helping. Atleast the uncomfortable ones from my podiatrist didn't cost me anything. Good luck to my fellow sufferers, I hope these work for you, couldn't hurt to try right?
I've used this nice stretch for about 2 weeks now. My problem is the boot is cumbersome to keep on while sleeping. I would recommend wearing the boot for a while before bed and then awhile in the morning before beginning your daily activities. The 3 velcro straps need be more heavy duty or else they should've used buckles to snap the straps together. I'm constantly restrapping them. I sew, so I may find some heavy duty snaps to sew on. The side strap which is used to stretch your foot into the 90 degree angle, if your foot doesn't or isn't ready to be stretched, the straps do not hold the foot at that angle to give you a good stretch. Overall, Yes I would buy this again, but only if they made some changes to the product. It does work if you work with it.
