We wanted a modern crib, but we couldn't find any under 500. So this one comes well under that. The bonus storage is excellent and we're going to use it also as the changing "table" area. It looks so good! The side rail isn't an issue for us, since we got an inexpensive extra mattress to place beneath the main mattress. This will raise it up so we can reach in, no problem. (still waiting for mattresses to arrive...) Also, I don't want a rail that moves up & down, because I'd be afraid it could malfunction and baby fall out or get pinched by it. The main difficulty with this crib is there is one error in the illustration for assembling the drawers. We figured it out soon enough, but it did mean taking off the back of the drawers and flipping it around.
Overall the crib looks really nice and i love the space in the drawers of this crib. but the only problem i have with it is that i didnt realize the sides of the crib didnt move at all and im too short to reach the bottom so i have to get something to step on so that i can reach the baby.
I usually don't write reviews, but I have to say that this crib was better than I expected. It was a doozy to put together (helped my husband), but the end result was worth it! One of the pieces to one of the drawers was broken when we opened the box, but my husband used wood glue and now it's as good as new. Thankfully it was an inside piece so you can't even tell. I like that the drawers are deep! The dresser can also stand alone when the baby gets too big to be in the crib. I give it two thumbs up!
The bed doesn't have the side brackets for the side rails to go up and down. Very hard to get the baby in and out of the crib.
