We saw this same exact baby gate on Amazon.com. I just happened to look around online and found the same one at Walmart. I was hesitant to order it, thinking it would be different, but the gate was perfect (and I'm picky)! The color and finish was great! It did take a while to install, only because I had to make sure it was mounted into studs, and I wanted it to hang/swing straight. I took others' advice and purchased our own screws to avoid anything breaking during installation. Overall, great product!
I looked everywhere to find a baby gate that wasn't plastic or a natural wood color and was thrilled when I found this one. We needed a gate to go at the top of our stairs leading to the basement that didn't scream baby gate because the stairs are seen from our front door and foyer. I am SO happy that I found this one. It is a wonderful color wood and a perfect match to our hardwood floors, I was nervous that it would be too light but it is a perfect match. I had our handyman install it for me because I had read mixed reviews online about the difficulty of the installation, complaints about the durability of the screws, etc. and he had no problem at all. It really looks very nice and have recommended it to several friends already. It also opens and closes with ease! Could not be happier with our selection!!!
We have 4 ft wide open stairwell leading to basement. This gate is perfect for top of stairs. Solid construction; it screws into wood/drywall and is extremely secure. It's also beautiful; the auburn color matches woodwork nicely. It's definitely not cheap or chintzy like so many gates on the market. This is actually our 2nd gate like this in 10 years. The first one was rough-handled by 4 kids so it was time for a new one. I was very glad to see it was still being made and available to buy. You will love it!
So beautiful! Did not skip on the varnish. Looks like my kitchen cupboards. It seems like a nice piece of furniture not a baby/pet gate. Very happy and satisfied. Kind of confusing to put up, but once it is you will love it.
This gate when installed looks like a piece of furniture. Very nice - does not look like you stuck something there to keep kids in or dogs out. Looks far better in person than the picture gives it credit.
The dark wood matches my hardwood floors & banister. Made with good quality wood. Expanded to fit my 41" stairs. BUT, best to hire someone to install it! Took a contractor 2 hours to install at the top of the stairs. But now that it's there, it is beautiful. Easy to use.
Product arrived well ahead of promised delivery date. Nice finish and met my expectations however instructions very confusing, difficult to interpret which let to a 4 hour installation. Plastic hardware disappointing. Gate release hard to disengage. Requires alot of pressure. Easier to just lift-up on gate to pass over latch to open.
The gate looks great once it's installed. This is our second of these gates since the first one broke within 6 months. I forgot how irritating it was for my husband to put together or I would have bought a different one this time around.
The box clearly indicates this can be installed to swing both ways. Not true. The way the latch works it can only swing one way. It's too late to return as I've already had it installed. The gate itself is decent if you need something that only goes one way.
A very disappointing product. Instructions were inaccurate and overly complicated. The finish of the wood is atrocious. Apparently they place the pieces in the box while the varnish is still wet, because the wood was "glued" to the inside of the cardboard box. It took a lot of work to clean off the paper that was stuck in the finish. Fit and finish of the latch hardware was sloppy.
