Love this Monitor

I love this Monitor!!! I am so glad I bought it. Its easy to use, picture is good, so is the sound. The extra camera is handy too. I love being able to watch her from another room and don't have to go to her every time she fuses to check on her instead I just check the monitor. This works great for me, being disabled, its tough to walk back and forth constantly.

We love this and wish we had purchased it sooner. I mainly wanted it so I could allow my 1 year old to play in his room without having to stay in there with him. But we use it for naptimes and nighttime as well. It was no-brainer setup, the nightvision is great, and I love that you can watch without sound if desired. I also like that you have the capability to add another camera and use the "scan" mode to automatically switch back and forth between cameras. It will be great if we have another kid. The one downside is that the screen is really bright in a dark room at night, but we remedied that problem by turning the sound up just a bit and placing the monitor face-down on the chair next to our bed. It's still within arm's reach if I want to see him, but the brightness isn't lighting up the entire room. We are still using our "regular" monitors too, just so we can have sound monitoring capabilities in other rooms without having to move the viewscreen around the house. They don't interfere with each other. We also have a wireless network, and the only time we get any buzzing is when the laptop is close to the receiver.

Truly a great monitor

I had the mobicam monitor for both my children's bedrooms and i broke it. When I went searching the internet, I found the updated version on Walmart.com for a great price. I could not wait to get it site to store. It was driving me crazy not being able to see if my 3 year old had fallen asleep. He was also sick and was coughing and crying a lot through the night. I couldnt tell if he was sleeping or sitting up. We has a lot of sleepless nights. I truly love this monitor. It is so much better and improved. The reception is a lot better. It gives me a piece of mind to be able to see my kids when they are sleeping, its also nice to see if my 3 year old has fallen asleep or is up playing. My husband and I sometimes find ourselves watching and laughing at him trying to fall asleep. I highly recommend this monitor and could not live without it

Very useful, not perfect

Some of the previous reviews state that the monitor screen is bright in a dark room, but I have to say that this has not been a problem at all because there is an "LCD On/Off" switch on the side of the monitor screen unit. I switch mine to "Off" at night, and then it works just like a regular sound monitor! If I hear crying, I can quickly switch it back on to check on my baby. Because the VOX switch is on the camera unit instead of the monitor unit, that feature has been useless to me, however I have found I do not even need it with the "LCD On/Off" switch. The wide viewing range of the camera is nice, something I didn't find with other video monitiors, but if the product was perfect it would have a zoom feature on the lens to allow for being placed at different distances from the crib. The monitor screen picture is excellent when the lighting in the room is right (I found that closing the blinds down instead of up in the baby's room improved the monitor picture, oddly). There is a hazier picture with dimmer lighting and good picture with full infrared. The closer the camera is, the better I can see my baby in all lightings. Walmart's product description says that this monitor comes with a "hanging loop" but as far as I know, this is not true! I emailed the company hoping to receive one. I have had some trouble with static. It is easily fixed when the monitor is placed in just the right position, but it is an annoyance. I wish this monitor came with batteries that could be charged by plugging the unit in. Instead, the user manual says batteries should be removed during long periods of using the AC adaptors, which is very impractical, especially given that the battery compartments are screwed shut! Overall, this product still gets 4 stars because it is very functional, a very good product at a price that is lower than many video monitors. I have a premature baby with special needs for safety, so being able to visually check on her without disturbing her has been very important. It also allows me to know whether she is fussing and trying to go back to sleep or waking up hungry. A very useful, functional product, though not perfect!

One main reason for returning this!

All in all this was a good video monitor. The sound and video were both good. We bought the monitor because we could hook up two cameras, auto-scan between the cameras, and the video monitor had a voice activated switch to turn it on. The reason I returned it was because of the voice activated switch. I like to keep the video monitor off for the most part but like the freedom to push a button to turn it on every once in a while (like with the Summer Infant Day/Night Video Monitor). With the Mobicam, you can either have the video on at all times or have it turn on only when activated by voice. The problem is that the switch between these two functions is on the video camera and not the monitor. Therefore, if you want to just take a quick peak at your baby you have to go into the room to switch it from voice activated to on all the time! Pretty much negates the purpose of having a video monitor in the first place!

We've been using this monitor for about 10 weeks now and it's definitely made it easier to check on our little boy. PROS: - small/lightweight/somewhat portable* - auto nightvision - picks up the slightest of sounds easily - clear video (when in range, no more than 10 to 15 feet away) CONS: - reception could be better - lots signal interference when more than 15 feet away from camera - camera doesn't come with ANY crib mounting options (had to use ribbon and saftey pins to mount it to the mobile to get desired view) - VERY limited camera angles - no horizontal movement, limited vertical movement. True, you could just move the entire unit to achieve horizontal angles, but not the way we've had to mount it. - no zoom options (at first we had it sitting on top of an armoire, but it was too far away to see him clearly) You can also use batteries to power the receiver to make it much more portable, but we haven't done that yet, so I don't know if it eats up batteries. Powering a speaker and an LCD screen, I would prob say you'll go through batteries easily. We got so much static interference at various places in our home (which isn't big AT ALL), it would be pointless to go cordless anyway.* We also got periodic static with it sitting on the nightstand in our bedroom, which is NEXT DOOR to the nursery (abt 10ft away). It's strange how you can rotate the monitor just a bit and the static will stop. Your body also has an influence on the signal. It would also help if it came with a spare power cord. We move it from the nightstand to the mantle in the living room every day, and it would help not having to get under the bed to unplug it all the time - but that's not too big an issue. Overall, it does the basics of what we need it to. Our biggest complaint is signal interference, and lots of it sometimes. We got what we paid for. I suppose the more money you spend, the more options you get, but this is all our budget could afford. _____ *refer to comment about static interference

I was really excited to get this monitor, especially finding a video monitor in my price range. I don't have anything good to say about this product other than I liked the price. For starters, the camera is impossible to place anywhere near the crib to get a good angle. The rotating camera won't go down far enough to see in the actual crib because the sensors block it from going down. Also, my monitor kept shutting off, had lots of static and the volume quality was awful. It is definitely the most cheaply made monitor. I returned this product immediately and went up in price for a Summer infant monitor. Don't waste your money on this!

This product was able to grab 2 other signals, but not our own. Tried from different angles as well as distances, even in the same bedroom, and still no luck. The screen was in black & white also, but the picture shows as color. Waste of time & money for us, and it's not like it was cheap either.

I loved it at first....

We got this to keep an eye on our twins during naptime. It was a pain getting it to get to the right angle, but once we did, we loved it. Until it stopped working one day out of the blue. We rarely used it 9turned it on to check on them and then off again) and within 5 weeks it broke! Thank God for Wal-Mart returns....they were quick to return it and said ALOT of people are having the exact same problem. So I would say if you are on a budget buy it, but keep your box and the receipt so when it fails (and it will) you can get your money back. Hooah Army!
