You get what you pay for. If someone really wants my bike they may get through this lock, but it may take a little time. I trust this lock to do it's job. I ride my bike everyday and use this lock to keep any would be theif's away. My bike is locked up every night at my house (no fences) where people could come by and take my bike if they really want, But I trust this lock to keep my bike safe. When temperatures are around mid-low 30's you need to sort of coil the lock yourself as it becomes stiff in the cold. (this would be my only complaint thus far). I got two locks - one for me and one for my wife. Length is good & wraps easily with some room to spare from back tire through front tire.
This lock is easy to use I have had great results with it.
It works perfect! I like that it is a little more heavy duty than a lot of similar products. I love the fact that it comes with 3 keys (all with one code printed on the side in case you happen to lose all 3, so that you can call Bell customer service). I love the carrying bracket that mounts to your bike that holds it right in place until you need it. Great product!
A good deal that comes from Bell are good. This is not one of them. It's cheap and easy to break into. I used when parked at a store one day. Luckily, they must have got scared. They broke the lock easy but did not take the bike. I rather trust a chain wrapped in duct tape with a solid padlock. I thought it be great, solid and light. It's just light, cheap and junk. I still have a lot of trust in Bell. Just not this lock. Pay the extra cash for a good lock.
I locked my bike with this lock and it would not open, I needed to use a sawzall to cut the cable. I suspected that it was due to heat but cooling it in place with ice did not help. After I cut it I left it in the house overnight and it opened on the first try the next day. The metal in the casing must expand enough to make the key not fit. I would recommend a different type or brand of lock. There is a lifetime warranty and they said they'd send me a new one, but I don't know if I want to use it because of this issue.
I bought this in store, and I wish I had seen these ratings first. First of all, you have to hold the key in the turned position to both unlock AND lock the thing. This was really cumbersome, but I could've dealt with that if it had served its purpose. I figured the Kevlar coating would make it harder to cut, but evidently not. The cable was cut and my bike stolen off my porch--while I was home. So it can be cut quickly and quietly, NOT a good trait in a lock. Will be trying a bar "U" style lock instead.
I would not buy this product! I owned it for two weeks and used it every single day. Although the cable proved good when someone tried to steel my bike... they didn't get away... thankfully... but, they were able to break the plastic part... this lock does not last... don't buy it.. it's not worth the price...
My first ride of the year and the Bell lock looked great when I locked up my bike to the bike rack in a very public park with police officers patrolling and thousands of people all around... ...Until a thief easily stole my bike without notice. They must have been able to get through this lock quite easily. Bottom line: it's a piece of junk didn't do it's job.
The peg on the end of the cable that inserts into the lock body is easily broken, which is why my bike was stolen a few days ago. If you want to keep your bike, don't buy this lock!
this product lasted me for about 2 weeks until the lock jammed or something and the key would no longer turn, i had to eventually cut it with wire cutters which also doesnt say much about the lock cuz it took about 5 minutes. the kevlar does not do a thing because it pulls back at the ends and makes for an easy area to cut, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT!!!
