Solid gate, nice wood colour. Nice and tall and relatively easy to install. If you have a cat note that it's taller and the bars are quite close together. We will probably have to McGiver something so that cats can pass through haha. The gates too good to opt for a cat door gate.
This gate adapts to the size of your space. We use it for blocking the dogs from hallway. Very easy to use and open. LOVE this gate!
I finally broke down and bought this for the top of my stairs so I don't have to worry about the grandkids taking a tumble. This is lightweight but also VERY sturdy once installed. Easy to install and great instructions with the exception of the large metal brackets that attach to the top and bottom gate latch. I didn't realize that there is a difference between the top and bottom one; at first glance, they look exactly the same. They are NOT. The bracket that the top latch fastens to has two little “divots” for the latch. Almost unnoticeable but it won't latch without them. Once I figured that out, it was really easy. Trust me, I am not remotely “handy”. I was able to install this on my own, in spite of myself, in under an hour with nothing but my stud finder and a cordless drill/driver. I was a little nervous as I was drilling into my solid oak bannister. But I read and reread the instructions before I started, then took a deep breath and did it. I had to remove the bottom gate bracket after installing it on the top by mistake, so it took me a little longer than if I had done it correctly the first time. This looks really nice and is lightweight but very sturdy once you have it installed. Definitely worth it!
Good quality gate. I bought the dark brown for the top of my stairs. I previously bought one 4 years ago and the kids just broke it at the connecting park. So I just rebought the same one to keep from drilling new holes. Never had an issue we have twins now and it's doing the job.
This gate is wonderful! So nice not to have a bottom bar across either at the top or bottom of my stairway. I was also needing a height that would work with my banister design, and this was perfect. Hubby put together but I don't think it's that difficult!
Our specific stairwell took some time to get the gate in, but if you have a well built home with studs close to the stairs will make installation easy and smooth. Not the easiest to open for 4-6 year olds, but that's what I hoped for so I'm satisfied. Beautiful color. Wood. I bought 2.
We use this gate to keep our pets in the laundry room when we go away. It's sturdy enough they can't knock it down and there's no cross bar/support for them to climb.
Love this gate, however it's difficult to open and close. Almost like it didn't fit to the attachments it came with, but once you get the hang of it you can do it with one hand just not very quickly. Pinches your finger if you don't grab it perfectly. Keeps kids out for sure 5 year old can't open it. Also Nana proof.
Either the gate is warped or my house is. Honestly it could be either, but I can't close it with only one hand as the bottom doesn't like up properly. It'll work for now but once my son realizes the bottom will come out independently I'll have to replace it. Which is too bad because I love that it swings both ways.
The gate slides out for wider openings and this feature is very difficult to use. It does not slide open easily, it gets stuck and you have to wiggle it around to get it to work. You have to lift the gate to lock it and it ends up lifting the other end off the wall. It is flimsy and not very safe.
