Been searching almost 6 months for a thermal printing calculator. Reason? Continually purchasing ink rollers for my standard ink roller calculator and wasting too much time trying to read the faded black and red print. Ink rollers lose much of its ink through evaporation. Though thermal printers only print in black, the print doesn't fade. I discovered two thermal calculator manufacturers for home use, Victor and Casio. Both of which have two calculators available. Victor has the ‘Big Print 1300‘ and the ‘PL8000' and Casio, the DR-T120 and DR-T220. When the paper would advance in the Victors, you can plainly hear what sounds like a ‘servo'...which I didn't like. I chose the Casio DR-T220 for my applications as I preferred the extra features and its quietness. Missing the two-color printing was short lived after the first couple of minutes! I quickly became accustomed to the black only image. It was perfect! The Casio distinguishes negative and positive numbers by using regular and bold print respectively. My ink purchasing days are over. (NOTE: Out of the many features it offers, a couple are a choice of 3 font sizes, time & date stamp, add company name, prepared by, reference number and remarks.) USAGE TIP: The small roll of sample thermal paper that comes with the Casio is a heavier grade than the standard grade you'd find in any retail outlet. The standard grade is primarily the same grade as a receipt from your local gas station. It's too thin for my applications. It took me almost another month searching for a brighter and heavier grade of thermal paper than Casio's included sample. If you search for 21# Heavyweight Thermal Roll Paper, (10 year image) you'll find it. In my opinion, the Casio DR-T220 and the heavier grade of thermal paper are a perfect match and I would rate it second to none. And you'll finally be able to read all of your calculations for years to come. I'm very satisfied with my Casio Thermal Printing Calculator and will never again return to a 'standard' desk calculator again!
I had been looking for a calculator for such a long time. I like the thermal printing part of it, The overall performance is wonderful.
