I am hooked on the sausage bowls and muffin sandwiches. I can not afford to buy the McMuffin at McDs and actually I love this sausage. Today I accidentially bought the crossants and I may like this as well. My son toasts the muffin and all else goes in the microwave, which I want to try. Jimmy Dean's breakfasts and his sausage are the best. Thanks
The first one I prepared according to directions was mediocre at best. I knew there was a better way, here it is. Remove the muffin from the packaging and separate the muffin from the sausage, egg, and cheese. Place the muffin in your toaster. Place the contents, sausage side down on a paper towel and microwave for 2 minutes (900 watt microwave). Reassemble and enjoy a crispy muffin with hot sausage, egg, and cheese filling. Total time 2 minutes to perfection.
If you throw these in the oven instead of the microwave, it's like an entirely different food! I love these for breakfast on days I work from home. With oven prep, the egg comes out fluffy, the muffin is the perfect amount of crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, and the sausage is flavorful. I'm pretty picky about meats — sausage especially — and I enjoy these a lot. The microwave is a different story; it makes the whole sandwich soggy and gives the egg and sausage a weird texture. I recommend taking a chance on these — but make them in the oven!
The flavor is great... My only drawback is that the sausage patty is extremely thin.. you would need two sausage strips to become equal to one side of the english muffin... I have seen "value(store) brand" items thicker sausage strips.... When paying for Jimmy Dean I want more of the great flavor sausage! I find that while cooking- If you are not sure how to run defrost on microwave (some microwaves are confusing unless you have read the instructions) ... follow the wrap in peper towel method 35 seconds top side down -flip- 35 seconds top side up ALLOW TO COOL Enjoy the great Jimmy Dean flavor!
These are great for a quick breakfast, however they have one awful feature; the "cheese" is stuck to the muffin and when heated, melts into the surrounding paper towel, leaving basically no cheese on your sandwich. The remedy is to remove the cheese before cooking, and then put it back in when the sandwich is ready. It will melt almost instantly. However, sometimes the cheese is melted INTO the English muffin, making this impossible. An easy fix, which would cost NOTHING, is to simply place the cheese slice between the sausage patty and the egg. The cheese slice would pop out quickly and cleanly and the sandwich could be microwaved as usual, without ending up with a cheese covered paper towel. Anyone who has prepared these knows what I am referring to.
I have been eating these sandwiches for a quick breakfast on the go ever since I hit the work force. Now these sandwiches have shrunken in size and are a complete disappointment as far as the sausage to egg ratio that is advertised on the box. Thank god you don't make ammunition.
I followed the directions and the muffin turned into a hard disc. I wish I didn't have so many more because I bought the big box, thinking they would be good.
These sandwiches are absolutely disgusting. Jimmy Dean needs to seriously either make these better, or just discontinue them. I will not be buying these again! First off, the cheese is about as fake as it comes. Looks like wax, and tastes worse. The eggs are disgusting. Reminds me of a yellow, round sponge. One bite of this sandwich, and the egg was the first thing to get thrown into the trash. I cooked this sandwich exactly by the instructions on the package. The cheese pretty much just soaked into the English muffin, and the muffin is super hard and chewy. The ONLY thing edible on this sandwich is the sausage. And even THAT is questionable. My teenage son will not even eat these, that is how bad they are!! Do not waste your money on these things, cheaper and MUCH better to make your own!! These are absolutely NASTY!
Everything taste artificial and rubbery. I cook exactly what the instructions say too. The sandwich also smells terrible.
The English Muffin sausage, egg, and cheese had a terrible flavor. The English Muffin was tough; hard to chew and the ingredients slid off as I took a bite . Don't waist your money. I will not buy the English Muffin sausage, egg, and cheese again.
