Simple and a good value

This product works very well. the directions or users guide could be a litlle more detailed. Only issue is I somtimes change the modes while running with out knowing my shirt was against one of the buttons. I also use a foot pod distance which works great. (sold seperately)and heart rate info are accurate, the software gives me the data I need for my training. Simple efective and a great price.

I recently bought this heart rate montior and love it! It is comfortable to wear while working out and does not interfer while working out. The chest strap is of high quality and is fairly comfortable. The best part is that it comes with the ANT stick which allows you to download your exericse information to your computer via free garmin software. This allows you to better track and interpret your workout information. Garmin also make a variety of other useful products for this: foot pod for running and a cycling cadence tracker. I can't believe all the feature packed into Garmin's lowest line HR monitor for the extremely low price!

Great Buy

I bought this heart monitor so that I could track my heart rate throughout my workout and also use it as a lap timer during my track running. It works great! The heart rate monitor itself fits comfortably around your chest and can be lengthened more than enough for my 48" torso. The band doesn't rub harshly at all. The watch/timer portion of this package is great as well. The band is made of a comfortable rubber/plastic that fits as snug or as loose as you want it to. It's precurved and works great as an everyday watch if you should need it to. The display is easy to see in normal or daytime lighting. Now for the bad news. There is no backlight (that I've found yet) on the display so working out in dim lighting or at night requires that you know what you're doing with the "watch" without looking at it. Also, the buttons can be difficult to use at times. They are so soft that it can be difficult to tell if you have pushed one until you get used to them. A couple of days of use and you'll be good to go. All in all, this is a great monitor! I'd recommend it over the more expensive models any day. It doesn't have GPS so you can't track your distance, so if that's what you need, this one isn't for you. But if you're looking for a great way to track your running/walking/riding on a known distance, this thing rocks!!

The Garmin Forerunner 50 is another example of Garmin getting it right. The elastic strap on the heart rate sensor is adjustable and comfortable for a medium-large man (44 inch chest) but fits my much smaller (36 inch) girlfriend as well. It absorbs sweat, but rinses easily and dries over night. The watch, although manly, has a rubberized band that is perforated all the way to the dial. This makes it able to fit wrists from 5.5 inches diameter to about 8 inches (my wrist is about 7.5) so there is room to adjust if it slides or needs loosening for comfort. The digits on the face are large enough to read while walking, running and biking. The controls (4 buttons each with several functions) are as simple as they can be and still give the desired ability to change modes and reset timers, and lap times while still exercising. The included ANT USB device allows you to upload data to either your PC or to the Internet. The software is free from Garmin and downloads in minutes. The Results of workouts can be moved into different activities like Walking, Biking, etc. and viewed as one overall workout, or individually as the separate ‘Laps” that make up that workout (see screen shot). The Forerunner 50 is great quality equipment, with great functionality for the price, great product as usual from Garmin. The only negative I have discovered is that my cycling gloves wristband can depress the Stop-Start button when I am on my bike. If I turn the face to the inside of my wrist, there is no problem.

Not sized for women

The watch was too big for my wrist. It doesn't specify the size and I would not recommend for women.

This is a piece of junk. I could never get it to work correctly. I guess as a watch it might be ok. I would not recommend this product. I returned mine for a refund and decided to purchase another brand
