I bought the gate to keep my 20 lb Maltipoo inside while keeping the door open for fresh mountain air. (He runs off to see the neighbor dogs if left to his own devices.) The gate is much more sturdy than I expected and works perfectly.
We purchased this gate to keep our dog upstairs becuase she loves to eat the cat food:)). So far, it is doing the job. The days of sneaking down stairs when Mom/Dad are not looking are over with:))))))).
This gate is perfect for keeping dogs out of certain rooms. The functionality is easy to use and does not get in the way! It swings in & out folded or unfolded. Easy to install. A great deal too!
Okay I'm in love with this gate! LOL! I have nothing but walk-through gates in my house. But none of them would fit my tiny bathroom door and my two little boys love to play in the bathroom! The instructions were AWFUL! But I finally figured it out and its awesome! It even swings open to walk through, you don't have to push it to the wall to open it. I was worried about my older girls getting their fingers caught. But I showed them how to swing it open and now I don't have to worry about that. I love how its so TALL too! I don't have to worry about my 4 year old climbing over this gate, as he is already doing with the others. He is such a monkey! This gate would be great for any door way or even the top of the stairs! I'm thinking about getting one for my bedroom door, I'm tired of sharing my room with my 4 kids!
Very convenient. Tall enough to keep animals and children out of your room. Opens and closes very easily. It closes up and is moved to the side so it is not in the way.
I needed a gate at the bottom of the stairs to stop my climber toddler from going up. I didn't want a swing out gate as I didn't have enough wall space to keep it open while not in use. I looked at retractable gates at first but after some research found that they were a noisy and I didn't want it to wake up my toddler during naps. The latch is hard to do. Require both hands for me and my to older kids ages 8 and 10. However, the gate works in preventing my toddler from climbing the stairs and also I can push the gate along the wall when not in use.
Gate is kind of ugly, but it's the only one available from Walmart that is hardware-mounted, which means it's the only one safe for stair use! It really needs to have a finish or be painted or something, but other than that it's pretty good gate. Instructions are pretty useless, just make sure you've got someone "handy" to install! :-)
I own two of these gates in different sizes and am planning on purchasing a third. They are really excellent gates that work well. It is true that the directions that come with the gate are very poorly written, but it is really very simple to mount this gate. The latch used to open and secure this gate is rather difficult to use, at first, once you've had it installed for a month or so and used it regularly it really loosens up and is much easier to use without being too easy that a child could do it. My only real complaint is that the first gate I purchased like this one did not come with all of the proper hardware to fully mount the gate, but we chose not to mount the middle metal piece so it wasn't that important.
Hardware is fine, but we wanted to later move to bottom of stair and would have liked the suction option to prevent damaging our wall and newel post. The large Vs are fairly easy for an active toddler to try to climb up, although actually getting over the top would be difficult...often caught daycare kids halfway up, that is why I wanted to move it. I also have this for outdoor deck...works great. Was not available in Canada so I had to make a special trip. I wonder why since they have stricter baby safety requirements.
Instructions are unreadable, parts are not numbered or described for assembly it is USELESS!!
