This product has a fairly simple purpose: it's meant to help you install a baby gate on a stairway without having to drill into your banister to do so. It meets it's purpose. My only complaint was that the directions could have been a little clearer but once we figured out what the diagram was trying to show us, set up was a snap. The baby gate installed very securely and while it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing thing to look at, what object in the baby-proofing category is?! (BTW it is A LOT cheaper than other alternatives at baby specialty stores and it works just as well).
It did what it needed to do. It wasn't think enough to prevent me from still having to drill into the bottom banister a little bit. It is literally a piece of fake wood with holes in it with velcro straps -- it works, but I have no idea why it was $20.
I bought this to use with my KidCo top of stairs gate and it works wonderful! I was leary about buying due to it being velcro that holds the wood strip but this velcro is awesome. Very sturdy. No movement of wooden strip. The only thing I can say negative about the product is that the strip wasnt thick enough for the screws that came with my gate so I had to use shorter screws to advoid damaging my null post. Other than that very good investment. Would highly recommend.
This is perfect. It is less expensive then others on the market. Granted you could probably make the same thing at home with a 2X4, but we just arent that creative. It was easy to put up and got the job done and it is definitally staying put and secure.
This product worked great on our decorative bannisters, however there are a couple of drawbacks. The velcro strap is fairly short and required the purchase of additional velcro to extend the stap to fit around our large bannister base. Also, this does not work well with heavier all wood gates.
These adaptors pretty much meet the expectations. They do come as one adaptor so in order to mount your gate, you will need to order two of them. They are not made as strong as I would have liked but so far they are holding up well. They include these small little black, plastic locking tabs in the package but I didn't have to use those at all. The velcro on the straps is very, very strong. The instructions on the package are not the greatest but most people with average smarts should be able to figure it out with no problem. When screwing your gate mounts to the wooden adaptors, I would suggest drilling small pilot holes first in order to keep from splitting the wood. I drilled small pilot holes first and it worked out perfect for me. I attached a photo as well. By the way, if you are going to order these from Walmart, I would highly recomend using their expedited shipping methods since my first order got lost because I went cheap and used their base shipping which is Mail Express and the products never showed up and then had to have Walmart order them again and ship them overnight FedEx. There's no way to track the order when using Mail Express.
This gate kit did just the trick to make the baby gate sturdy and safe for my little guy. The only negative is that I wish it came in different colors to match the banisters. The white stands out when the banister and gate are a completely different color, but all in all an awesome product and works great. Would highly recommend this product.
This product does exactly what it says it does. It works well. The directions are hard to understand and half of them were covered up by the packaging label since the instructions are on the outside of the box, but you can figure it out without them. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it only comes in white. I do think the price is a little high, but I didn't want to take the time to make my own so I paid the asking price.
This product does the job, but there are a few things you should know ahead of time. The velcro straps are absolutely essential, however, the plastic loop ring on the end is thin and flimsy. We broke one of them right out of the box! Just pull on them gently, and you should be alright. The board is probably not thick enough for the mounting screws that come with your gate. We have an Evenflo stairway gate and the screws would have gone right through the adapter and into our banister (defeating the purpose of the adapter). We had to mount a 2x4 to the adapter first, then screw the gate into the adapter/2x4. Don't get me wrong...it's not a bad product. There really isn't much out there like this. I tried to make my own, but the velcro straps with loops and locking clips are impossible to find in the general marketplace. Just don't expect it to be the one-stop fix-all.
Like it because of my banaster is it worked out good. i wish there was more clarafications on how to put the clips on by looking at the picture and reading it was hard to figure out how to put it on. the picture shows 2 clips on one going one way and othe going the other way we thought there should of been 4 clips all together. Other than that it was easy and perfect for my banaster.
