I bought this gate to replace a gate that was held in place by Spring tension. I need agate to keep my puppy in the same room I was in. I had to step over the old gate and fell a couple of times. With this new gate, the installation was so easy, it folds back and swings to the side. It's easy to open and close. I just love it!
Gate works very well, and expands perfectly on our deck to help keep our dogs in.
I suppose this gate is fine but I don't really know as I never opened the box. The picture of the product on the box which was shipped (quickly) does not match the product described and pictured on walmart.com. The web site pictures an expandable gate with an expandable white plastic guard on top of the gate with hardware for attaching the gate on both sides about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom and about 1/3 of the way down from the top. The picture of the item sent does not have any guard on top, just the open ends of the horizontal wooden slats that make the gate. The hardware attach points pictured on the box sent are on the very top and bottom of both sides of the gate. The name of the product on the box does match the name of the item pictured on the web site, though - "first year's Expandable Swing Gate". I guess it may be a newer model? If you don't care about those differences, fine. But you should be aware that the product shipped is not the same as the product pictured and described on the sales site, if those differences could be important to you.
This is truly easy to adjust and install
Most of the child gates we looked at were poorly constructed, and not very wide. We have a 5' wide opening to restrict access to and this fit the bill. It required some modification to work properly but that is the nature of life. Good product definitely worth the price.
I ordered this gate it was suppose to be 24" in height and it was 32" in height. The white piece of plastic that goes across the top was not on it.
Product is not the same as picture shown
Same as PP, the gate you get is not the same one you order. In fact, it is a completely different gate. it is 32" high instead of the 24" it's supposed to be. It has no plastic safety rail at the top. It also has some weird leg thing in the middle of it that scratches across your floor when you open and close it. It's there to support the middle of the gate because it's missing the top plastic slide rail. Also, this gate has to be screwed into the wall permenently on one side instead of the quick release latches it's supposed to have on both sides. I RETURNED IT AND WISH I WOULD HAVE RECIEVED THE PROPER ONE I OREDERED.
The gate is made of very poor quality wood. Installed with very poor instructions. No top rail included. Would not order another one.
The gate I received did not have the "no pinch top security rail". First Years must have changed the design of this gate because the rail was not shown on the box either. The UPC codes matched but the design was not the same. The top was chipped and not finished smoothly and I was afraid the gate would pinch tiny fingers. I had to return the gate. I don't normally write reviews but this is information I would like to have had.
