We've been using the Marpac Dohm since my daughter was born. She goes to sleep early and the machine helps drown out all other noises in the house (dogs barking, washing/putting away dishes, tv, etc). When I am in her room with the door closed I can't hear anything from the outside. We have at least 5 other devices that can play "white noise" including amazon alexa, sleep sheep, crib mobile, crib aquarium, but the DOHM is our favorite. It's simple, it can be "loud" yet soothing at the same time and it doesn't shut off until you turn it off. The only thing I could suggest is to make this a sound machine, humidifier and night light all in one. I've had to contact Marpac customer service a couple times. They respond in a timely manner AND took care of my issues. This is totally appreciated!
I sleep so good now thanks to the sounds machine! I love it! I also bought the weighted mask and the aroma mist. The only thing I'm going to say is that now I can sleep like a baby again and I'm a new mom! That's saying a LOT! It's amazing! I had a hatch sound machine for my baby but I'm going to sell it and get this one for him too!
Everyone needs one of these. I live with my partner AND my parents and sometimes the space feels prohibitively small. Sound really carries. This machine has added a welcome, gentle barrier whenever you need one. Any room becomes a tranquil oasis regardless of what is happening in the next one-- trombone practice, someone watching TV without their hearing aids, etc. If you want your sounds masked, stick it outside your door; if you want theirs masked, put it inside with you. The app-controller is awesome and makes for an easy, inconspicuous adjustment. The timer setting is great because when it kicks up I know it's time to start winding down for the night. This machine is a godsend and has restored privacy to my partner and I. We no longer feel like sneaky teenagers when we want to do the deed! My only criticism is that settings 7-10 start to sound a little mechanical. There is more of a buzz and less of a whir. 6 is sufficiently loud so I just don't use the higher ones unless there is a lot of racket to drown out.
My girlfriend has trouble sleeping if I am playing my video games and talking with friends. It's not every night, but it's hard when I want to play and I don't want to wake her as she works early and we have a 1 bedroom apartment. We set the timer every night through the app and she sleeps so much better. Although I can't be screaming and sound still comes through it's a world of a difference. Love it!
The advantage to using the YOGASLEEP Dohm is that the sound is mechanical. What I mean by that is that there are actual moving parts (it's safe) that generate a whirring sound. It is very consist ant and theoretically changes with the movement of air in the room. The mechanical motion of the machine creates a beautiful sound wave that has a natural curve. Most sound machines are a digital file played over a speaker. If the digital file is short or low quality, you will hear imperfections, which drives people like me crazy! We really enjoy the Dohm and the added feature of auto-turn on at night time is really helpful. The only complaint I have is that if you manually turn on the device, sometimes it will forget to turn on at its regular time the next night - a simple bug fix.
I wanted a sound machine that would turn off at a time I specified each day. You'd be amazed at how hard that is to find. Most things I came across required that you're always connected to Bluetooth or forced you to have an actual clock attached OR came with an annoying light that would be on all night long. I was thrilled to find this Dohm Connect because I only had to program it one time through the app and I've never had to open the app again. The machine comes on each night at 8:30pm without fail. Even if I unplug it from the wall, close the app, or start it up during the day. If I plug it in after 8:30pm, it automatically starts. It's fantastic. Then it turns off each morning at 7am. Again, without fail, even if I turn it off and back on during the night. Also, I have a small baby. I've found that other sound machines sound like a baby crying when you listen to them for too long. So I was constantly waking up, thinking my baby was crying. The Dohm Connect sounds like a strong fan. It isn't high pitched. So I never think it is the baby. I can rest easy knowing our baby monitor will wake me up if the baby cries, rather than the sound machine at random times. The sound it makes is robust and fills the entire room, blocking out unwanted noises. At first I though I might want it to be louder, but I've been able to sleep perfectly with its current loudness. It really is the best sound machine I've ever had. I will be buying one for each bedroom in it house!
We use this all the time for our little one to help keep the outside noises of older kids in the house wake him up. He loves it and it really does a great job. Half the time I want to just stay in his room and sleep too! :-). Having the ability to control it with the phone is OK, but we find we do not use it very often since it is just easier to press the buttons on the top. But I do like that you can adjust the volume (speed of the fan) 10 steps which a lot of the others do not do.
I really liked this initially but after a few months it makes a buzzing sound the is really annoying and I have stopped using it. I think the fan started going bad. So keep in mind this is using just a fan and will probably make noise or fail. Stick with the digital models if that is a concern for you.
The machine looked great and the app used to control the machine also worked well. However, the machine was not loud enough and the max volume could not be compared to my old white noise machine. I had to go back to using my old white noise machine for the noise level. Hopefully in the future this product will have higher volume settings to use. I would buy it in the future if I knew that the volume was more pronounced.
I got the Dohm Connect as a gift from my mom and used it because I'm a night shift nurse and need to block out daytime noises. But this machine only lasted me a year of daily use. It makes this awful rattling noise. Kinda sad because I expected it to last longer and now I'm back to playing sounds on my phone until I can find a reliable sound machine.
