I've always been an "it must have 2 coats of paint" person. I was skeptic of the paint with primer but with purchasing 4 different colors (yes I really said 4.... 2 colors for each room), I thought I'd give it a try. I was estatic when the 1st coat of pain dried & the walls had complete coverage! No 2nd coat needed along with a lot of time saved. Thanks for such a quality product at an affordable price! I used this paint in my living room only one coat was needed but I used two and it looks amazing I love it! Does not run or drip goes on smooth will definitely be using this again soon in my kids rooms and our kitchen! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
One of the bedrooms had been painted a dark orange by a previous owner. One coat did a great job and two coats made it awesome. The hallway was still the original dark dark brown paneling. Two coats in the hallway and the difference is incredible. Does not take a ton of paint for good coverage. I will purchase again.
Product was easy to apply and had very little mess. I had to paint the ceiling as well as the walls and there was absolutely no spatter from the rollers - not even when painting over my head and I applied the paint fairly thick. Coverage was fantastic and we love the look of the finish. Will certainly be using this paint again!
Used 1 gal, green, and covered dark stained white with one coat. Also used 1 gal. white, to go over dark stained white on trim and doors. The trim and doors were the only places I had to do two coats. Definitely will use for the rest of the house. Had to list using once a year; but, I don't paint the inside of my house that often. Current dark stained white has been on walls, doors, and trim for over 8 years now, so I know this product works to cover stains, marks, etc.
My friend bought this paint in Red Geramium to paint her child's room. With one coat you can see the wall underneath, even with two coats you can still see under the paint. It's almost like this paint has no primer in it. She also bought a gallon of this in purple and 2 coats of purple the wall is very covered.
I have done a lot of painting over the years, and this is THE worst paint I have ever used! I have applied 3 coats and it still isn't covering a mantel that was made from pine. It's not thin, it's actually thick and stringy, but goes on more like white-wash than paint. I have had ok luck with Glidden before, but this paint is simply horrible. I will return it.
This is a terrible product. I'm painting the trim in my home, which is currently a dark chestnut brown semi-gloss (The previous owners had no taste.). Obviously, I expected to have to do a little sanding, a lot of cleaning, and to apply more than one coat of paint. I thought buying this product would save me a bit of time priming, though, and I was wrong. The paint is thick and stringy. It doesn't go on evenly at all, even with brand-new, high-quality brushes and rollers. Worst of all, it seems to start drying almost immediately- while I'm still applying it. My trim is slowly turning white, but I'm having to use 3 and 4 coats of paint, *and* it has tons of tiny bumps in it from the paint drying so quickly. It's honestly like trying to paint using a half-dried bottle of White-out.
I am so disappointed in this paint. I should have spent the extra $5 per gallon for Behr or Sherwin Williams. Very thin, almost impossible not to drip. Separates within minutes so you have to stir almost every time you dip the brush. There is no way this is a one-coat paint. Unfortunately I bought 6 gallons of a custom color and am about to find out if Wal-Mart will take it all back.
This does not cover with 2 or even 3 coats....pencil marks show through even with 4 coats and a thick layer with a brush on top ....this junk is translucent...I wish Walmart still had the kils color paint......(which is what I tried to cover up) there was some great paint, thick, covers in one coat....and I was using this Glidden paint to cover up a lighter color with a darker one...I'll never buy Glidden ever again....will finish the kitchen ( I made a mistake and bought 2 gallons at once) with another 2 to 3 coats...I purchased Behr paint for the baseboards...it is also exceptional....will use that brand for the rest of the house..as you can see from the pic...you can see right through it...keep in mind this is after 3 coats rolled and an additional thick coat brushed...and you can still see right through it.
