The color match of the paint was very close to OE. After reading other reviews about how thin the paint is, I will agree, but because of it's low viscosity, the paint flows very well, ensuring a good smooth finish with no dry spots. You just have to learn how to apply the product. Overall I am very pleased with the product and highly recommend.
Excellent paint! Sprays flawlessly, dries rapidly and weathers very well. The colors match the manufacturer's original paint perfectly. I buy Krylon Farm and Implement paint for about half of what it would costs me to buy the original equipment manufacturer's paint from an equipment dealer and it's just as good if not better. I've been using Krylon Farm and Implement paint on my equipment for over fifteen years and have never had a problem of any kind with it at all. I just came to their site to see if I could match up a color for one of my tractor attachments and I easily found it. I buy this paint at my local auto parts store saving me a trip to an equipment dealership and Krylon is less money. I highly recommend this paint to anyone looking for an exact color match paint that can take the weather and abuse that farm equipment is subject to.
I don't do reviews, but this stuff is AMAZING! It's Idiot Proof, and I would know. For example, I painted my Red Jeep Bumper in the rain (raining out - painting in the Garage) 40 degrees out (50 is recommended), and in 15 minutes you can't scratch it w your Thumbnail. You can Re-coat it ANYTIME! For example, spray it on, you see over-spray "fog", you can spray it Shiny, and it drys exactly like that.. You can continue "stacking" it, or re-coating, and it continues to cover and harden. No Runs, No drips, etc.. Yesterday, I started on a Plow Blade in 40 degree weather w #1816 John Deere Yellow from Walmart, sprayed the entire can (windy out) and in 15 min it's Dry and Hard. So I checked it next day (this morning) hard as a rock, it sinks into any Rust and you can't scratch it. (Note: I tested some 15 min Rust-Oleum right next to it and you could scratch the surface w your nail a little, pretty good but not as hard as the Krylon..) I'm a Big Fan of this paint, and hope they develop other colors, eg Black!, Lt Blue, etc. I would test this for Krylon in any color on any surface if they wanted me to, it's so good.. Walmart carries Red (I've used), Green, and John Deere Yellow (I've used), all good. The Guy at O'Reilly's (Krylon Distributer) is ordering the #1805 Caterpillar Yellow 4 me which I need 4 the Plow. Buy this! Dave.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Re-painted a 25 year old wheel when the tire was off and used less paint than I expected, great coverage, and stands the test of the power washer!
I love this color. Prep, Temp and Humidity is Key. I just wish I knew the heat rating. Texas gets HOT! and with equipment sitting outside, surfaces can get close to 200 degrees. Not sure how much it can handle but we shall see. If it holds up for 1 summer, I'll change rating to 6 stars.
Follow up on yesterday's test. Seems humidity didn't have any adverse effect on drying times. Could handle after an hour and after 18 or so paint was cured. I am a certified Cerakote applicator so I have pretty extensive experience painting things to a specific standard and quality. That said, this stuff is thin and you have to be very careful to avoid runs. Coverage is thin due to that and stand by to do multiple coats to get effective and even coverage without runs. I wound up doing at least 5 coats and the coverage was still thin in places. I bought this because I was in a hurry to get a project to the point of reassembly and once I get the time I'll wind up tearing things back down, blasting all the parts I paint with this and Cerakoting them any way. I probably won't buy this again unless I'm in a bind, again, and it's the only thing on the shelf.
I bought some of the John Deere Green Farm and Implement paint. The spray nozzles are the worst I have ever used. They are quite honestly spraying like a squirt gun. Three of the 4 cans are exactly the same, I have no reason to think the 4th will be any different, so I'm not using it in case I can return it. The color match is right on, but I might have to puncture the cans and drain into a spray gun to put this stuff on.
Worst caterpillar paint I've ever used won't cover its very runny, translucent, dripping says can spray direct on metal it dosn'tcover even over good cat orange paint it'svery watery its not the same color orsnge of cat old equipment sorry ill be taking it back for a refund I have no time for this paint this project is now behind schedule due to this..
Well, I started thinking about the busy farmer with the John Deere tractor, who orders online. Yes, I read the instructions, and what you see in one photo is after "two coats", the other is "three coats" of paint. I was going to try to get my money back after one coat, but, to give a accurate review, I used the entire product, and my review continues into the next day. And this can is; 1. Not the exact color; John Deere Yellow. 2. It's very drippy. 3. After 2 coats, it's still drippy looking. 4. Air pressure in the can is high = more air, less paint. 5. It is matte, and not gloss. 6. After an hour the paint begins to wrinkle (see close up photo). However, I do have to point out that where it's wrinkling, it isn't just metal. Where it is wrinkling, there is a bit of Krylon Paint, from last month. And no, the surface wasn't moist or wet, and it's the right the temperature for using the product, as directed. Now, maybe I just got the one can out of 1000, that does not work. Five years ago, I remember the average Krylon paint was drippy, but, last month I bought a can of "25% more", and surprisingly it looked good, and I even used a bit of the paint on what I used this paint on. Which is why I bought the can of Krylon John Deere Yellow. I did write in another review elsewhere, that; "Now I'm not saying that I won't buy the product ever again, because if I want something to look vintage, this would be the look I'd want, and Krylon may work. So, I would recommend it, but, not for its intended use.", but, not now. I won't buy Krylon paint for a vintage look, but, I may buy for a garbage look, because who knows if this paint is going to be chipping in a day. The drippy look, dried drippy. While using your product, I sprayed on a metal pipe (see photo), and it came out looking lighter in color, and just look at the picture. I did not lay the pipe on the ground, as one does not take all metal off a John Deere tractor, before spraying it. This is a test that should have been done before manufacturing. Since you never saw an instructional video on how to make paint, might I suggest you tour other paint companies...You know what? No. I apologize. Of course you know what you are doing, you just don't care about your product, or customers.
Picked up a can of white and a can of new holland red. The surface was fresh clean aluminum. The white adhered pretty nicely, but did run a bit. It dried fast and feels nice and smooth. The red, on the exact same material, hasn't dried in over 24 hours. It's still tacky to the touch and I can put my fingernail in it and get to bare metal. Very disappointed not only in wasting money on the paint but now also wasting money on stripper and more paint.
