A great shave! Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to recharge.

The design of this shaver is excellent: it fits the hand easily and the heads pivot for a close, easy shave. After you finish, the water resistant shaver and the heads can easily be cleaned under a faucet. The shaver shows the level of the charge so that you know how much more shaving you can do, and it can be recharged in about an hour. The fully recharged shaver will give you about two weeks of shaves. The side burn trimmer is narrower than that of my previous norelco, but it is adequate. Overall, the look of the shaver is quite different, and you either really like it or don't.

best electric razor I have ever had in 40 years

I have always used an electric razor and for the past 30 years or more it has always been Norelco. This 1090X is by far the best. It shaves closer and is the most comfortable to use. I also like the fact I can clean it under the faucet at the end of each use. I would highly reccoment this to everyone.

This was purchased by my wife around 18 months ago to replace a Norelco electric razor that I had been using for several years. I find a much closer shave with the Arcitec 1090X, it is an excellent shaver. I have used Norelco products, especially electric shavers since 1954, when I purchased my first electric shaver. Since that time I have over the years always replaced my electric shaver with another Norelco shaver, and have seem great improvements over the years in each new shaver. I am looking forward to many years of use of my 1090X. Thanks for developing and marketing such a gerat product.

Pretty good design

Covers a decent area fairly quickly. I have some trouble with the loose skin on my neck causing the head to bounce but going back over the area usually results in a smoother shave. I notice that the heads seem to be getting duller. I'm a little surprised by the price of the replacement head I've used for less than a year but I guess this compares with the cost ofblades for a year.

I would not return to another type of shaver.

This product causes difficulty when shaving closely around the mouth, nostrils and on the chin. The jowl is usually left a little rougher than the upper face. I like the fact that it is quick to use and clean up. With its case, it is very portable and can be re-charged in motels or wherever with ease. It doesn't pull, although, at times I have to put a lot of pressure on it to get the tough whiskers.

If one MUST shave...

I hadn't shaved for thirty-eight years and was forced to it by a medical necessity. I chose the Arcitec because of its reputation and other customer reviews. While it took some time to condition my face to it, I can't really blame the razor since any product would have necessitated the same. Nor is it easy to compare to other products and styles because I haven't tried any others. Too bad there's no way to try multiple products before buying. The Arcitec is easy to clean, and the floating heads do follow the contours of ones face. One feature it doesn't have is the ability to shave while tethered to an electrical supply. Recharge is accomplished via the stand or the pod, but not directly to the razor. The sideburn trimmer is superfluous. It's nice to look at, but I'm not accustomed to inviting guests into the bathroom to see my electric razor.

I have used Norelco razors from the first time I started shaving LONG ago. This one upholds the quality of the brand. It's coverage is great, and the way it hugs the face and neck is great and something that was lacking in other versions. The only thing I do not like is the trimmer. It is much too small for effective use and the heads get in the way of the trimmer. Otherwise, I am happy with my purchase.

Disappointing

I have used Norelco shavers for years and this new model, the Arcitec 1090X, is very disappointing. It feels and sounds flimsy with too many critical parts made of plastic, and I would be surprised if it lasts more than a year. It's shape makes it beautiful to look at, but awkward to use and it shaves no better than my old Norelco (which finally "died" after many years of daily use!). On top of that, it is more difficult to clean, requires a charge to operate (my old Norelco worked as a cordless AND with a cord!), and the travel case/charger, cord and plug are huge, making the Arcitec 1090X difficult to pack when traveling. I do not recommend this shaver to anyone who plans to shave with it every day. The price is high and the quality seems low for such an expensive shaver. Sorry Norelco ... I'm not impressed.

This shaver looked very nice...one might say well architected. However, it just does not do the job for me. The trimmer is fairly useless. The view of its work is blocked by the trimmer housing and it doesn't trim well...it leaves hairs untrimmed. As for shaving, I frequently go a couple of days between shaves. This shaver simply can't cut it, when the beard is beyond a 24 hour period. It leaves numerous hairs behind and untouched. Sometimes I can get them all if I spend a lot of time on the shaving motion, with many alternative angles. I have been a Norelco fan for decades, and never had a complaint. I always appreciated shaving (and massaging) my face with the Norelcos. This new shaver is too delicate and improperly shaped to actually message your face (ie., press down). I bought this shaver 3 years ago, and figured that I would learn how to make it work to my satisfaction. But alas, it has remained unused on the counter for most of that time, while I decided which manual blade razor I liked best.
