For years I wasted time and a lot of money going to a salon, embarrassed to show my hairy legs to the waxing tech. Tried to do it at home with messy melted wax, then pre waxed strips, never getting good results. I finally gave up. I saw this model and it's wonderful! Why did I wait so long to try epilation? This thing is fantastic and the light really helps you to see. The cord is plenty long. I don't bother with cordless because I want 100% power until I've done both legs from ankle to bikini line, and my armpits. I love this thing! For those who never used one, yes it hurts, but only the moment the hair is pulled. There is no lingering pain, unlike shaving which used to burn and itch me for hours afterward.
It has a simple yet effective design. You do have to go over the same area a few times to get all the hair removed but overall it was easy. It's not painless but I prefer how fast and easy it is compared to waxing. No mess, no trip to the salon, no fighting those wax at home kits, and no repeat expense. I have exema and it flares up in the dryness of winter. This is nice because I don't have to use a shaver and irritate my skin.
I have only been epilating for 3 months now, and this was my 3rd epilator that I have purchased. The first one was an inexpensive Remington at a discount drug store. It worked, but pinched my skin more than once. I bought the Emjoi Emagine rechargeable one second. It worked great in removing more hair in a short amount of time, and didn't hurt at all, probably more due to the fact that I had already suffered through the initial hair removal process with the Remington. However, the rechargeable part never worked right and eventually after only about 3 weeks, the Emagine bit the dust. I think it was bad from the start, because the charging led indicator never came on even when plugged in and charging. Luckily, I bought it at Walmart.com and all I had to do was take it back to a local store. Now for this Emjoi Light Caress, I really like it. Love it? Don't think I'd go that far, but I do LOVE epilating in general now. The Light Caress isn't as noisy as the other two, and it works pretty good, but you do have to go over the hairs more than once. I think you have to do that with all of them though. The light is nice, but not really bright enough to spotlight individual hairs in my opinion. Maybe this is because I can't see close up as good anymore -LOL. I went with the corded version because of the bad experience with the Emagine chargeable one. In my opinion, like many other reviewers out there, you are better off with the corded versions simply because they work faster and for as long as you want to use it. The charge-up kind run down so fast and even when charged up, they seem not to work with as much power as the corded ones. I researched for so long before I bought the second one, and the third one, but you can read really good reviews and there seems to always be one or two that spoil the deal for you. I don't want to do that with this one. It IS a good epilator and it's easy to use. It has NEVER pinched me at all, and it feels comfortable in your hand using it. The cord is very long so I've never had an issue with the cord being in the way or not long enough. It also doesn't hurt me at all, but I am so used to it now. It really is true when people say that the first time is painful, but the second and third times are easily tolerable. After that, you don't mind at all. I actually want it to "rip" the hair out by the root now. That's better than getting broken off. Speaking of that, if I go too fast, sometimes I think the hairs do get broken off and that will cause ingrown hairs. I tend to get ingrown hairs on the upper thighs, but never below my knees. It doesn't bother me enough to start shaving again. I never want to shave again. Oh yeah, the underarms are even better than the legs! I love to have clean looking underarms after epilating now. I do my underarms every other day or so just to get the straggly few that come back. It is summer right now and I wear sleeveless tops all the time. This winter I'll probably go a few days in between. The Light Caress will do the job well if you don't want to spend a lot of money. The smaller head goes in the bend of your legs good and around the bony knees better than the Emagine one did. The Emagine was like a lawn mower though on the flat straight parts, but surprisingly gentle, too! I should have bought the corded one like that to begin with. My next purchase will probably be the corded Emagine when this one tears up. I don't think it will for a long long time. It feels solid and works great. Easy to clean, you just sweep the hairs out with the little brush, then I dab alcohol over the tweezers with a cotton pad and put it away. Good luck in your purchase choice and start epilating soon, because it is totally worth it! You won't regret it if you stick it out for the first 2-3 times!
THE NOISE THIS THING MAKES IS AWFUL AND IT DOESN'T GET THE SHORTEST HAIRS EITHER!! THE REVEIW SAID THAT IT WOULD DO FACIAL HAIR THEN I GOT IT HOME AND READ THE INSTRUCITONS AND IT DOSEN'T !!!!!!!!!! NOT WHAT IT'S CRACKED UP TO BE.
