My elderly mom broke her foot and couldn't put any weight on it. This saved her! To get it through her Medicare plan, it would have required 7 - 10 days to preauthorize it, and the durable medical equipment provider in town wanted $1800 to purchase from them! Huge kudos to WalMart for shipping it directly to us, and expediting the shipment so we didn't have to wait over the Labor Day weekend for it to arrive. It enabled my mom to return to her own home and get along just fine until her foot healed enough to walk on. Thanks, WalMart! The only downside that Mom saw was that the front wheels are fixed, they don't turn, which made going around corners more of a challenge. It folds up very nicely for transport, and while heavy, is extremely sturdy and durable. Excellent choice, especially for those with no health insurance. MUCH easier than crutches or a traditional walker!
Had foot surgery, let me tell you, this beats crutches by far! You have your hands free to do household chores and the ability to carry things. Crutches don't give you that! No sore armpits, folds up easily. I would recommend this to anyone that is unable to bear weight for an extended time. If you or your insurance purchase the knee walker through a medical supply store, you're going to get way over charged. My friend's insurance paid FOUR TIMES the price for this same exact model!
I ordered this for pending foot surgery. It is very comfortable, and easy to operate. To turn it around, just slightly lift the front end and point in the right direction. For the affordable cost, this is a great piece.
The price was right and I was referred by my podiatrist to Walmart for this purchase. I did comparison shopping of course and Walmart beat out competitors by about $50! The only thing that would have made this product perfect would be wheels that actually steer, but models of that nature were very pricey, over $100 more. A choice between crutches a camboot, this is hands down the best and Walmart has the best price.
This knee walker has been a great help for me. I will be using it for 6 weeks. I am able to go back to work because of the knee walker. I do have to pick it up to turn it but it's pretty light weight. I tried out the walker with two handles and found that the turning radius was too wide and I would still have to pick it up to move it. I would be nice if someone would create a knee walker with wheels that swival like grocery carts.
I had an ankle fracture and was unable to deal with the crutches. I saw this knee walker and thought this would be much better for me to use. Unfortunately for me i found the cushion does hot have a grove for your knee to fit in. The cushion is rather oval shaped and is difficult to keep knee in place. The walker does not turn, which for my needs, is not at all what i need.This walker you have to lift up and turn. which is not good for me since i have balance problems. For the money the walker is nice. If you don't have balance issues, then it might not be a problem for you to lift the walker up to turn it. If you don't mind constantly placing your knee back on the cushion, because there is no grove for the knee to fit in to keep it in place, then this walker would be good for me. much to my dismay i had to return it.
My wife tried to use this product for her broken right foot. She could not use it comfortably because it put too much strain on her back. Adjustments were limited in that her right knee pad at it's lowest level was still too high to comfortably mesh with her left foot . It put her off balance too much so that it affected her back. We've tried to work with it a reasonable amount of time but it just did not work for us. We will be returning the product.
