The mattress is just a piece of foam in a water proof cover. It's too bad it's not reinforced at the corners because a sheet deforms them, smushing them in. But this mattress is better than the one that came with my cradle, which was an even flimsier piece of foam that doubled over with a sheet on it. Anyway, I'm not impressed, but it will do, and I would recommend it because I haven't found anything better.
