I have had the same pay-as-you-go number for over two years, the "free" phone that came with the service was getting grungy and I replaced it with this phone. I simply took the SIM card out of my old pay-as-you-go phone and put it into this one and it worked. Like my previous phone, this phone meets all of my basic requirements; unlike my previous phone, this phone is nifty.
At&T now offers the option of $0.10 that's ten cents per minute, with NO daily use fee. I can also CHANGE my plan DAILY if I want to. So when I know I will be talking over twenty minutes ( $0.10 x 20 = $2.00) or sending multiple text messages, I change the plan to the $2.00 per day, that allows UNLIMITED talk and text. Then the next day I change back to the ten cent plan. NO FEE's , NO LIMIT to the number of times you change. But If ON THE SAME DAY you talk on the $0.10 plan, you will be charged for those minutes, then if you decide to tchange to he $2.00 plan and make another call, you will be charged $2.00, BUT then all other minutes will be counted as unlimited. Seems fair enough to me. BUT WATCH OUT, minutes are always rounded up, and on completed calls they begin counting the moment you press send/call, NOT the moment the call is answered. This phone does NOT have exterior UP/DOWN button. So control of voice volume is from the key pad, and ringer volume is in the menues. The # key works for silent mode. Reception is great. Silver top color is easier to find than the dark colors. REMEMBER to purchase $25.00 every three months, or $100.00 for the entire year. Doesn't matter if you still have minutes, they will roll-over into the next activation period. But you are also purchasing the phone number and access for a set period of time. It would not be fair to AT&T if you spent $10.00 and expected to keep the number and access for, six, 12, eighteen months or longer. So be prepaired to spend the minimum to keep the phone active. It's a great deal for me. $25.00 for three months $8.33333333333 a month. Tough to get a user name!
It is a great little basic phone. Still cant get over the price of $10.00 I was very happy and shipping said like 4 days it arrived the next day :)
Tired of paying 75$ a month for cell service I barely used, I chucked my I-phone and its plan and got this Gophone. It works great and the cheapest plan of .10 a minute is perfect for me cause I make 20 calls a month tops and don't miss being able to compulsively surf the web or read my email like I see everybody else doing. This little phone isn't perfect--it feels like a 'toy' in my hand, all plastic and no heft at all. The speaker when you put the phone on speaker is very weak--but--the numbers on the screen when you type in a phone # are much larger than my old phone--that's a big plus to me. The phone itself costs about $10, and I'm paying less than $5 a month for calls!! Wish I'd gotten this phone in the first place. If your just an occassional cell phone user and mostly keep it in your car cause you can never find a working pay phone anymore--this thing is perfect!
I have an ATT contract. I needed a new phone mid contract, but didn't want to pay $150+ for a basic phone. This phone is the ticket. This phone does everything you would want a basic phone to do, and it does it beautifully. 1. It is very compact. Nice and thin. But also very sturdy. 2. Voice quality is crystal clear. Often when someone on the other end isn't talking I get worried that the connection was dropped because it is so quiet. 3. The GUI is excellent. So many phones make you wade through a million buttons before you get where you want to go. This is easy. Up write text message. Down go to contacts. top left button gets to you a list of shortcuts you can program: alarm, inbox, etc. Also, can set lots of different alarms for different days of the week. I find this very useful. Only downside is no speaker adjust on the side of the phone. Need to use up/down arrows during conversation. To me, that's not so bad. The thing that annoys me most is accidentally changing the ringer volume while the phone is in my pocket. That will never happen with this phone. What a relief. There are no buttons on the outside of the phone. 4. Texting works well. Easy to type buttons. T9 is good. Someone mentioned not enough words. That's BS. It has all the words you would expect. Easy to add words to dictionary too. 5. Price. Unbeatable.
This phone is perfect for our needs, we don't text and we just need it for once in a while use. It can be used for texting but I would think a regular keyboard would be easier to use. It's very easy to put in contacts, has different ringtones. It's amazing how much technology is in this little thing and the price is amazing. The battery lasts a long time.
I've had this phone for a little over half a year. It's ten dollars, so it pretty much stinks since it can't do anything, but it functions. I've had very few problems with it not working, except that the T9 dictionary doesn't have many words in it. Other than that, it's nice and small, and it texts and calls fine.
It worked...at least once I was able to find an AT&T signal. It was the cheapest of the bunch. There are probably four other models on the ATT website for under $20 if you want more options though. Purchase a $25 card and if after using up the minutes and you don't like it, you are only out the initial $10. Buy a different model and keep this one as a backup.
i bought this go phone to replace my six year old cell phone because one of the numbers didn't work anymore. i like this gophone because it's nice, cute, simple, basic and light and works really well.
Phone came without SIM card. Would,nt work with SIM cards from to similar operating ATT Go Phones. Returned phone. Will not order from any 3rd party vendors selling through Walmart.
