There are so many patterns you can make with 5" squares, and I really love this die. It lets me create my own "charm packs" for less money. I can customize the look when I choose my own fabrics, so this is a really great tool for disappearing 9 patch, hourglass, pinwheel, zipper, etc., and have enough to actually make a quilt. It cuts several layers at a time, and goes so quickly. And, they are precise cuts. If I had to choose a Go! die to start with, this would be the one. It's my go-to die for many patterns.
Love this die! I've used this die almost more than my strip dies. Being able to quickly make my own charm packs from my fabric stash is helping to use up prints that would have still been sitting there just because I hated to try to cut a square using my acrylic rulers.
I love this die! I got it to save me time cutting squares for the Twister quilts using the Lil Twister. It works really, really well and quickly and easily cuts my fabric. I pair this with the 2" square die to cut the left-overs from the Twister. It is a great combination.
I love the 5 “square die. It’s so easy to cut blocks or create my own charm squares and also cutting for several quilt patterns that require a 5 “ square. Which is a lot of my patterns. This makesmy cutting time so much shorter and my sewing time so much faster. You really do spend99% less time cutting fabrics!
Charity group donated materials sometimes include charm squares, but never enough to quite make the patterns we need for a finished quilt. This die makes quick work of zipping out new charm squares from scraps to complete our designs. So fast and easy, and we love that we can cut layers. Thanks!!
It is so easy and fast. I have been using it at my church quilting group so they can take advantage of all the fabric available for our work. Using all of the dies allows me to ensure nothing goes to waste and we can produce lots of beautiful quilts for some lucky individuals:)
I use this die to cut up my scrap fabric into an easy size for use later. Once I get enough squares then I will have my own homemade scrappy charm packs to make gift quilts. The die cuts beautifully and I definitely recommend it as a great starter die for your collection.

I have my 5" die since 2018, however it is not cutting an accurate 5" square it is off about 1/8". Doesn't sound like much but it makes pieces a block off. I did use a new mat and it does not make a difference. I am hesitating buying a new one.
Looks like I'm the only person who has had problems with this die. I used it only once to cut 4 layers of fabric 3 times because I needed 24 squares for a quilt. The second time it wouldn't even cut one layer of fabric. Have no idea what happened. Now that I've got a Studio will have to try a 5" die for that one.
