Although I have been quilting and sewing since I was a little girl, my nemesis has been consistent accurate cutting. I have always been able to sew a very accurate seam allowance, my finished measurements would not be exactly where I wanted them to be. Accuquilt has completely changed all of this, and I am a much faster and more importantly, ergonomically correct quilter! Strips are a breeze and I am in the process of collecting ALL sizes!!
I love this die for cutting binding strips - so much faster than rotary cutting. The multi-strip feature allows you to cut binding strips for a queen size quilt in one cut! You MUST get this die as it saves so much time & makes beautiful bindings! It can be used for sashing & strips for making 9-patch blocks for baby quilts as well. Quilting is so much better with Accuquilt!
What used to take hours to cut a quilt takes far less time! No redo's because the rotary cutter strayed off the ruler or moved the slightest bit. Eliminates waste. Fun to use too! It's amazing how fast you can start sewing instead of dreading the cutting.
I purchased my Accuquilt Go! Cutter about 5 years ago. I purchased this die to cut out 2 1/2" squares for a Betty Boop quilt that I was working on. One of my issues when trying to cut strips, was when the ruler slips. I even went out and bought a product that was supposed to help with the rulers slipping. Not so much. I have since ordered the 4 1/2", 5 1/2" and 6 1/2" strip cutting dies. I am going to use them for cutting my sashing, border strips and whatever else I may need. I LOVE this die. I can't wait until I order more dies and make a ton more quilts. I can't wait to see what new and exciting stuff they come up with. I really believe what Accuquilt says is true. "Better Cuts Make Better Quilts".
This die has been such a time saver for me. I cut 6 layers of fabric or 18 strips at a time to then sub cut into various lengths to make many quilts. I have also used it to tame my scraps into perfect strips to be subcut or used as-is later. I just love it.
This is by far one of my most used dies. For binding, for sashing, to make nine patches- sew three strips together , then cut those sewn strips crosswise to make nine patch units. for railroad quilts, etc. I could go on and on. The best part is that the cutting is accurate 100% of the time! No more "wavy" strips. And all in a fraction of the time!
I recently purchased a pattern book I had been looking 2 years for. The lady at the quilt shop was trying very hard to sell me all the templates for the pattern I was making first. I told her I had an accuquilt and wouldn't need them. She said oh but the don't have the right size strip cutter. I pulled out my cell phone and proved I just need the book. This is a great size for older patterns and I love it.
Out of all the steps in quilt making, cutting binding strips is my least favorite. I have never particularly cared for rotary cutting and, although it was necessary, I always wished there was an easier and faster way to make bindings. I bought this die last week hoping it would fit the bill. Boy, did it ever! I just cut the binding strips out for an entire quilt in less than a few minutes with next to no wasted fabric! This is now my most favorite die. Now I can bind my quilt without any stress or fussing with the rotary cutter. Thanks, Accuquilt!!
