This is a really nice replacement for a desktop PC. I have been running a 7 year old laptop for that many years. And it has slowed to a crawl. The last time I had a desktop was probably 15 years ago. This Acer Chromebox is sweet. It has a very small footprint and is the fastest PC of any kind I have had. It comes with the small Acer box itself and a stand. It also comes with a wired mouse and wired keyboard. Setup took all of 3 minutes. All you have to add is a monitor of some kind. It is running Chrome OS which I had no knowledge of. I had been a windows guy since the late 90s. But this OS runs and works very similar to windows. With the fast processor and plenty of ram it is lightning fast. Now full disclosure, I'm not a gamer and I do no kind of social media or garbage like that. My computer is used to research things, pay bills, get my news and weather and watch a few videos here and there, and that's it. I don't spend my life staring at a screen. I believe this is marketed as a good choice as a gaming system and it likely is. The only thing not included here is a monitor. In the pic you will see that I just took an old 32 inch tv that wasn't doing anything and using it as my monitor gave it a new purpose in life. It works great. I cannot say again how fast this system it. It loads graphics, videos and things like that with zero lag. It is fast. This has become my new main computer. 5 Stars.
The acer Chromebox is a great portable computer. The box it comes in is very small and includes a full sized wired keyboard, a full sized wired mouse, the base for the Chromebox and the Chromebox. you can attach the Chromebox to any monitor or tv and it sets up in a matter of minutes. It also came with a mount but it is unclear what to do with the mount or how it works. I could not locate any directions on how to use the mount either. The Chromebox is small and fit on top of my electric fire place in front of the tv. It had several USB ports which I loved because you can never have to many usb ports. when using this computer on my tv connected to wifi two floors away from my router it still ran extremely fast and efficiently. I love that I can pack it right back into the box it came in to move it around the house as needed. It did not come with the HDMI cable required to connect to a monitor so that is something that I had to purchase in order to use the computer. I think this computer is fantastic and love the small size instead of a huge tower. If i could recommend one change it would be to have a wireless mouse and keyboard for even more functionality.
After years of using my phone and a notebook, I wanted to return to using a PC but I didn't want a huge boxy computer on my small desk. I chose the Acer Chromebox and I am thrilled with it. The Acer Chromebox is the equivalent of a desktop computer packed into a package that is about 7 inches tall by 2 inches wide. It is so small you'll forget it is on your desk! It has incredible speed and power. It is “cloud centric” and is packed with popular apps for browsing, Gmail, office projects, YouTube, Google Drive and Google Play Store. The Launcher button opens all pinned apps to allow you to select your app quickly. The set up was a fast 5 steps: 1)connect mouse to keyboard 2)connect your own monitor (NOT included) 3)connect to WiFi 4)connect power cord and 5)turn on the power button on Acer Chromebox. The HDMI capability allowed me to use an HDMI cord and connect the computer to my smart TV. But of course you can connect to a monitor. Connecting to a network is easy: power on your Acer Chromebox and a connect screen shows up for you to select a WiFi network. My network showed up at the top of the list and all I had to do was click on Accept. You must sign in with your Google account User Name and Password. If you don't have a Google account you will be prompted to create one. The first time you power on your Acebook a very helpful “Tour” pops up and allows you to explore how your Acer Chromebox works. Acer Chromebox comes with a full size mouse and a standard Querty keyboard. I absolutely detest the tiny, flimsy keyboards that came with notebook computers I purchased in the past. With this full size, sturdy keyboard, I can type quickly and correctly. I typed up a flawless, written document and the Acer Chromebox found my printer and connected to it immediately. And I can save everything to Google Cloud. I couldn't be happier with Acer Chromebox. Fast and Powerful at a great price!
I have 2 Chromebooks that I love, so I was so excited to get this Chromebox. It was super easy to get going, and was up and running in just a couple of minutes. It has both wireless and wired capabilities. The Wi-Fi and wired connection both provide plenty of speed for playing videos and watching live programming. I use this Chromebox with my 55" TV. It comes with a wired mouse and keyboard, but I have a wireless mouse I use with it, so I can browse online from the couch. I made the text and icons larger so they are easier to view from a distance. I think this is excellent little computer and is perfect for homeschooling projects as well as adults who don't need to run complicated programs. Would be perfect for those who want to cut the cord! One thing to note. This does not come with an HDMI cable, or a monitor. This Chromebox has 1 - USB 3.1 Type C port, 5 - USB 3.1 ports (2 Front and 3 Rear) and 1-HDMI Port. It has a very fast startup, and all the connections you would need. All in all, this Chromebox is an impressive, compact, seamless little machine. I am very happy with it and would highly recommend it!
This chromebox is great! It is very small, yet very fast and easy to use. It runs on Chrome OS, and the layout is similar to an android smart phone, tablet, or Chromebook. It comes with a keyboard and a mouse, so you only need a TV or monitor to use it. I connected it to our plasma TV and am using it primarily to watch TV and movies. I also occasionally disconnect it from the TV and take it to the bedroom, where I connect it to a monitor to do work or writing. It is plenty fast and has more than enough storage for most purposes. If you want a small yet powerful computer that can easily be moved around, this is a safe bet!
I honestly had no idea what this was when I got it I thought the processor was some thing that stored more data on or helped make your internet faster I was wrong. But still not a waste it's amazing how far we have come basically for those who don't know which I may have been the only one lol this is a computer so to speak. Basically instead of the big tower you would have at your desk this is the new tower lol you just plug it into your computer monitor or your tv and your good to go. Comes with the processor keyboard, mouse and hook ups it has a sd card slot etc for you to add more memory if you want to.
I've had an Acer 14in Chromebook for a few years so I know all about Chromebooks. While I love my Chromebook I could never use it as my main laptop. For that I have Windows. However if you like the Chrome OS and want a speedy computer running ChromeOS then you can't go wrong with this one. Speedy I3 core processor, much faster than my laptop. This doesn't come with a monitor so I had to hook it up to my 55inch TV to review. I happen to have a USB extension cable so I hooked the keyboard up to that and used a usb remote mouse I had on hand. While this comes with a mouse the cord wasn't long enough to use it from my couch. After setting it up I had to do 2 or 3 restarts as it had a number of critical updates. Surprisingly this can actually do 4k resolution. Plenty of USB ports and even a micro SD card slot. HDMI output. Lan and wireless wifi. 64gb SSD. This one says Optane memory and to be honest I'm not sure what that is. I believe it's even faster than SSD. The OS is the same as my Chromebooks so nothing new here to report on. It can do playstore apps and run linux too. I'm not sure who this is marketed to. It seems too pricey for me for a ChromeOS system. Maybe if you're a geek and want to run Linux on it this might be right up your alley. It's ChromeOS, it's super fast and plenty of ports, just add monitor and your good. Solid build quality. I've had good luck with Acer products so this ones a keeper.
This is a great little computer, especially for a beginner. Setup was quick and easy. You do need to get a monitor or have the needed cables to connect to a TV. We already had an older monitor, and needed to order an adapter to go from the VGA connector to the USB Type C port on the Chromebox. Once we got the adapter, it connected quickly and easily to our existing monitor, and then setting up the Chromebox proceeded smoothly. We did connect it via HDMI to our 46" TV but for us that was a little overwhelming, and the wired keyboard and mouse either couldn't be reached or we'd have to sit on top of the TV (way too close). We might consider a wireless keyboard in order to use the Chromebox in the living room instead of taking up space on our dining room table. Our existing wireless mouse connected seamlessly. The computer boots up very quickly. You can set up more than one account to log in to, and switching from one to the other is quick and easy. Browsing results are really fast. I enjoy this small footprint computer greatly and would recommend it to anyone who uses their computer for social media, casual games, browsing the internet and doing schoolwork. I do not play the complicated multi-user games so can't offer an opinion as to appropriateness for gamers.
The gaming potential of this Chromebox got me quite excited but it was also the cause of my disappointment. The ability to play games from the Android App Store as well as AAA titles from various cloud gaming services suddenly turned Chrome OS into a viable gaming solution but at the current state, it is somewhat of a mixed bag. I was quite satisfied with the simple initial setup. Being an Android phone user with a GMail account, getting started with this Chromebox was as simple as booting up the box, connecting to the Internet and logging in. After a few incremental updates to get to the latest Chrome OS version 87, I was enjoying the snappy performance and awesome display on my 70" 4k TV. I was a happy camper up to this point. My disappointment came when I played some popular Android Roblox games and found them to be buggy and laggy. It seemed that Android game support could use some optimization. Cloud gaming fared better as AAA games like Borderlands 3 on Google Stadia and Destiny 2 on GeForce Now performed amicably albeit with occasional lag, skipped frames and blurry screens that detracted from the overall enjoyment. I was not sure if the cause of these performance issues were with the Intel i3 CPU inside this Chromebox, the stability of my Wi-Fi bandwidth or with the load on the cloud gaming servers but the overall experience was less than stellar. In conclusion, the higher-specifications of this Acer Chromebox and the frequent updates of Chrome OS should give this computer an exceptional life span. As a gaming computer, this Chromebox has potential but one must wait a little longer for better Android support and better optimization from cloud gaming services.
Took no time to hook it up and get it going. Doesn't seem to hard to learn how to get around and use it. My only complaint really is it comes with a wired mouse and keyboard which is not so handy since it is connected to our television. That however is just more of an irritation and I will buy wireless down the road.
